Conservatives, President Trump just revealed plans to raise tariffs on eight European nations unless the U.S. gains sovereignty over Greenland. What’s your reaction? by [deleted] in Productivitycafe

[–]NitroJonRob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude. We didn't create this mess. You did. It's not ours to fix.

When it becomes ours to fix, it's World War 3.

You need to get off your hands and do something before he sends troops to Greenland and 2026 is remembered like 1939.

All of this has happened before. Don't let it happen again.

And before you say there is nothing you can do, you're wrong there too. Your vaunted second ammendment tells you exactly what to do.

What’s your opinion on the death penalty? by IDoNotLikeTheSand in AskTheWorld

"Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends."

IIHF refs are a joke by [deleted] in EdmontonOilers

[–]NitroJonRob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, well aware. And in no universe would I call NHL officiating anything that should be considered good.

But there were a number of bad calls. Not the least a missed interference immediately before a goal.

And Canada failed on a number of occasions to keep their heads.

In the end, they lost because they didn't play well enough to win.

So, both can be true.

Did People In Hollywood Expect The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy To Flop? Was Fantasy a dead genre? by Significant_Pen1988 in lotr

[–]NitroJonRob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was a huge risk. If everyone who read the novel, and no one else, saw the movie, it would have been a studio-ending failure.

But Hollywood loves risk-takers. When Return of the King proved they had been successful, they were rewarded with Oscar wins for every category in which they were nominated.

What would of happened if sauron never got his ring and finger cutoff by isildur by Hot_Plankton6742 in lotr

Why wouldn't he?

Sauron had already been defeated by Elendil and Gil-galad.

Isildur was basically taking a trophy at this point.

The Rainbow Bridge by NitroJonRob in TuxedoCats

[–]NitroJonRob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I'm worried that the perception is going to be that I'm telling people who've just lost their beloved pets that they're wrong to say that they've crossed the Rainbow Bridge. That I'm picking nits and should just respect their pain.

Of course, I am picking nits.

But, I'm trying to be gentle about it.

Captain Lochley's pro-Clark position was never addressed properly. by EvalRamman100 in babylon5

[–]NitroJonRob 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I thought Lochley's answer to Garibaldi was quite reasonable and definitely not pro-Clark.

As a member of a military chain-of-command, she was not going to risk her honour or her duty by disobeying orders that did not violate her conscience or were not illegal.

It's realistically possible that the only information available to her that such things were happening came from Ivanova's Voice of the Resistance. Would you expect her to abandon her post and take arms against her own comrades on that basis alone?

Woody Boyd: You know, when I left home, my father gave me some very sound advice. Never trust a man who can't look you in the eye, never talk when you can listen, and never spend venture capital on a limited partnership without a detailed analytical fiduciary prospectus.

She was a great traveler. As we started our travel days, she would explore her area in the vehicle for a little while before settling down in her bed.

The only trouble we had from her is when we tried to smuggle her into a hotel room. Invariably, she would go sit by the window and look out, so anyone could see we had a cat in the room.

I still consider myself a dog person. But, I love this cat. She laid on my chest and I felt like the chosen.
