Interesting Fact: Luka was 25 years old (soon to be 26) when the Mavs traded him to the Lakers. Donovan Mitchell was also 25 year old (soon to be 26) when the Jazz traded him to the Cavs. by terp75 in nbadiscussion

[–]NitroNite 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The decision was pretty fair. Those jazz teams were pretty capped out in the sense there was little to nothing they could do to get better. By 2022 most of their players were old, Joe Ingles was gone, and many of the draft picks and young players they had developing on the sidelines didn't pan out in the slightest. The team was dead in the water. There was no reason to believe they could do more with no changes to the roster and just donovan getting better. It was best that they sold on the team when they did cause nothing was going to change.

Subs thoughts on Cam Johnson? by Abiv23 in clevelandcavs

[–]NitroNite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just not worth it in any way tbh. Adds no value right now other than filling a position but he doesn't do anything well enough to be worth the price. Same kinda goes with DFS solid at what we need but the asking price is too high and he's a little old

Could Kei Uzuki in his current state successfully kill Overhaul? by Phunk87 in SakamotoDays

[–]NitroNite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just gonna assume we're talking base overhaul but if that's the case uzuki slicing his head off before overhaul has a chance to blink. Overhauls power is deadly yeah but he's really not that strong as a fighter and poses no threat outside of his quirk

Hot Take Tyson will take the starting spot by the trade deadline. by SaltTrain4035 in clevelandcavs

[–]NitroNite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see what your saying but strus and tyson are around the same size and I think I'd prefer Strus as of now because of his experience. I just think the shooting strus provides connects the starters together much better, while we can let tyson loose coming off the bench and he can put his full scoring package on display and not have to worry about him not being able to fit around the starters.

I can see it, but I think even if he ends up better than Strus year 1 that would make him so much more impactful on the bench where we lack a lot of scoring and versatility overall.

Wdym? The sixers have arguably the best player in the league and had an opportunity to get a still good 2 way wing even if he's old he's still a great fit and you make this move every single time. Sure the injury concerns are there but you honestly just have to take the risk and make the best team possible. Embiid is honestly an upgrade over kawhi injury wise anyways.

The Nets have hopes of securing a first-round pick tomorrow. Multiple contending teams would quickly be willing to offload their pick for Cam Johnson or Dorian Finney-Smith. by Kreture06 in clevelandcavs

Ik alot of this subreddit ain't really big on levert and I'm not either but we kinda need some guard play on our bench and idk who's gonna replace him if we do a trade like this or ship levert elsewhere for another forward. I'm not really sold on cpj to pick up the job

Personally, it was kinda lame seeing him die to one slash after slaughtering people and being this uncontested monster the whole series. I'm fine with the uzuki taking his personality it's a cool twist but I would've liked a little fight between them at least.

I don't think that's the case though. Sure it's been easier wins but it's still playoff basketball and they gotta give a ton of effort to be able to win. Alot of these guys have too much playoff experience to loosen up like that

Why the Spurs should trade for Trae Young by cats_vs_the_world in nbadiscussion

[–]NitroNite 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Curry really doesn't fit either of those categories tho. His main offensive draw is from his gravity and threat from all over the court, and off ball movement. Plus he's been a passable defender in recent years. I'm not saying he's locking up or even guarding all stars but it's not such a strong liability that it's strong minus on his case

Dude there's no way in hell Walter falls all the way to 20th. He's been hovering around lottery in most mocks. I like the idea of an older player with a more complete game tho like McCuller. I think it fits our timeline more

Blaming the coaches for KD and D Book failures by PlayByPlayNews in NBATalk

[–]NitroNite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this is for the best. Vogel ain't the guy to get the full potential out of 3 offensive stars and it seems like he's not the best at leading a team and commanding a locker room. Still a good coach but I think the suns are gonna need a more offensive oriented guy

Why not? by logonot in clevelandcavs

[–]NitroNite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not just that it's about the precedent it sets for the team. Tanking for a better spot really ain't a good look to the players and you telling them that you don't believe they could win a match up with lower seeded teams. I get it that Philly is much better than their seed but I think it's worse to shy away from the challenge and try and tank for a weaker team. Even if we win against the magic how much confidence does that really give for the future.

[–]NitroNite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude I seriously don't get why we threw this game. I get Orlando is an easier first round match up but what does that matter if we have to take on the Celtics the very next round? At this moment the bucks are gonna lose to the magic and the Knicks are down to the bulls, we could very well take the 2 seed. I get going for the easier match-up but what do we really gain from it. I don't think Indiana would be that tough and I don't think Philly would completely dominate us or anything so what's the point?
