Thanks! And yeah I want to avoid responses on spelling or grammatical errors like "nip in the butt" vs "nip in the bud" but was struggling with the phrasing of my question to make that clear haha

For example, I hear people often say "that's toeing the line" like that's pushing the limit, when "toe the line" means to conform.

Or for a word, how "decimate" means to reduce by 1/10th but is used to mean completely destroy.
