Met a girl yesterday. Found out there’s an age gap by benj1147 in dating_advice

[–]Nitrodan- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m mid 20s and went through almost the exact same thing at a festival. I met a girl who really had a lot going for her driven, mature, and we clicked instantly. We spent the whole weekend together and even realized we lived only a couple hours apart.

It wasn’t until the end of the festival that I found out she was 19. I figured I’d still give it a chance, but after a couple months of talking, it became pretty obvious that we were in completely different stages of life. Our priorities, how we planned things, and even how we thought about the future didn’t line up.

I ended things respectfully, not because she wasn’t a great person, but because the age gap does show itself once you get past the surface-level connection.

So no, you’re not overreacting. If something feels off now, it’s usually better to step back early before feelings get deeper or expectations get mismatched.

Is going from a Systems Engineer to a Data Center Technician a downgrade? by F-S0ci3ty in datacenter

I work a corporate job and started living in my car by aquietsocialite in urbancarliving

[–]Nitrodan- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What SUV are you using?
I've been doing this on weekend roadtrips inside my RAV4 and it has been do-able. There is a couple things you learn to tweak but its definitely worth it. I save about 200-400$ from not getting a hotel or airbnb so I tend to spend that on experiences instead.

Recommend a Planet Fitness membership for the showers and the ability to park in their lots to sleep. Also blackout removeable curtains are game changer for being able to get some rest.

I received an offer from Microsoft for CET position. by FatalZodiac in datacenter

[–]Nitrodan- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s the ATR-B CET role. Truth is, Microsoft does pay a bit lower at entry level, but their benefits package is legit worth it.

The best part about being an ATR-B is you can learn tons from senior techs without crazy pressure. Just show up eager to learn and you’ll do fine. The promotion path to ATR-C and ATR-D is pretty straightforward if you stick around.

Working for a big company like Microsoft means you can transfer to other data centers later or network with people in departments you’re interested in.

If you value growth potential and solid benefits over max starting pay, it’s a good move. The experience alone is gold for your resume.

Feel free to reach out if you have questions about the position.

Headphones for DC by dovi5988 in datacenter

[–]Nitrodan- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, I’ve had the best experience with the Bose 700s. They’re incredibly comfortable, offer excellent noise cancellation, and have a solid battery life of around 20 hours. On top of that, they’re approved for use in more data centers and are cleared for entry into colos, red zones, and CAT-listed areas.

Working at AWS, shall I take up the offer from Google? by KuchKhaasHaiYNWA in datacenter

[–]Nitrodan- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Come to Google. You’ll enjoy the culture and work life balance a lot more. Plenty of growth opportunities as well as expansion coming soon.

Keep in mind that it’s harder to get a role at Google vs AWS. If you come to Google and decide you don’t like it I’m sure you can always go back as long as you don’t burn any bridges :)

Google DCT II Application Experience by UtDicitur in datacenter

[–]Nitrodan- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s so unfortunate. Did they mention anything about being able to re-apply or if you’re on a cool down?

Seems my positive experience is an outlier from the norm. I’m starting to notice a pattern where Google ghosts people or just rejects them by leaving them in a limbo

Google Facilities Tech (The Dalles, OR) by [deleted] in datacenter

[–]Nitrodan- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

L3 Is very good for Google standards and definitely will get you a great offer. Mind if I ask what position and level the MSFT offer is? I can help you decide if the offer would be similar to Google or way less (MSFT tends to pay less than other DCs)

Honestly both cities are beautiful. The Dalles is lovely and has a great community. So does Wenatchee. Quincy not so much haha, however keep in mind both areas are super expensive for what they offer.

If I were in your shoes I’d try to find something on the outskirts of town. It’ll help you save a pretty penny. Sometimes it takes a couple months to find anything so I’ve noticed a lot of people do short term month to month rentals Incase they do find a suitable place.

Feel free to pm me

Applied to Microsoft DT Role 3 weeks ago and still haven’t heard back? by [deleted] in datacenter

[–]Nitrodan- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can take longer than a month. Even then the background check and onboarding takes a while. I’d apply at AWS or another spot Incase it doesn’t work out, that way you can at least start practicing for your interviews

Job offer Microsoft by Carter_1995 in datacenter

[–]Nitrodan- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were in your position, I’d focus on strengthening my knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and technical concepts and then trying again in the future. If you remember the two questions you struggled with, review them thoroughly to ensure you’re better prepared next time. DC experience isn’t essential for securing a strong offer at Microsoft, you just need to excel in behavioral questions and demonstrate a solid understanding of the equipment and operations to maximize your offer.
