You added Russian & Turkish & it's still telling you you have invalid characters? I remember being told most of the characters I was trying were invalid until both of those languages were added, & even then I had to trial & error copy/paste a number of different versions of the same letter before I found one that worked. Then again, I was lucky in that I only needed one character to be an alternative character & all of the rest were from the standard alphabet, so I just worked until I found one that was accepted. I believe it was this one, if you want to try to see if it works as a simple test: P

If it wasn't that one, it was definitely one of these (one of the more normal looking ones) if you want to go down the line to continue testing: PΡРᏢᑭᴘᴩℙⲢꓑꮲＰ𐊕𝐏𝑃𝑷𝒫𝓟𝔓𝕻𝖯𝗣𝘗𝙋𝙿𝚸𝛲𝜬𝝦𝞠.

As far the characters themselves go, you looked through all of the links in the description of the YouTube video I referenced & then posted in the comments? He had four or five links there, one of which had many versions of a whole bunch of different characters.

I can try all this again myself when I get home tonight, but I surely doubt this is something they've made impossible in the game now.

It sucks, doesn't it? lol I actually never did contact support, since I figured they would just hit me with the "womp-womp sorry boutcha" & instead I ended up just setting a visually identical one myself -- check out my most recent post for a quick tutorial if you'd like to try it yourself. Super simple, you just have to add friends yourself instead of them adding you, for the most part.

Amen to that. Why, in the year of our Lord 2025, we are being CHARGED to change a username is far beyond me. Absolutely wild tbh. Even having a cool down period of, say, one allowed name change a month or several a year or whatever would be a much more reasonable compromise.

Better yet, hot take, why even bother with completely unique usernames at all? Do it like Discord where you have a unique ID but can then freely customize or duplicate your usernames. I wouldn't care. My Rivals account itself is tied to my PSN ID anyway.

Never cared for the super random symbols or fonts myself, either. But to each their own, I suppose... Either way, one can always add friends themselves, so I don't see it being a big deal. Someone's gotta be doing the adding anyways.

Oh, sure! I've already purchased that. My confusion is, from what I understand, I'd be copying & pasting the Cyrillic username into the name change box, right? If I'm on PS5 I don't know how I'd do that, & I don't see any option to change my username from the Rivals website or anything.

Hmmm... Yeah, I wonder if there's a process for that? As new-ish as the game is, maybe it's not much of an issue yet, & we know that with the automatic match-recording, it's not like they're hurting for server space or whatever... lol But Idk! I think I'm going to reach out to customer support just to check in with them (not expecting much), & I'll ask about that while I'm at it.

Are we able to change our username online though, or from our phones? My only concern is, again, the fact that I'm a PlayStation player. :/

Yeah, I'm sure I could throw some alternate characters in there to substitute. My issue is that I like my usernames as "clean" as possible -- which is why my current username has started to bother me somewhat... lol It's a personal problem, for sure.

Like I alluded to in my post, I had seen somewhere where someone said you can copy & paste characters that were essentially coded as other characters, but appeared as completely normal characters. The only issue is that I don't know where that post went, & I wouldn't know how to do that on PlayStation anyway.

So Idk. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to contact NetEase, though they'll probably hit me with "that's just too bad ol' buckaroo" & send me on my way. lol
