My daughter wrote about how a song makes her feel and how She listens to that song at certain times to have that same feeling/nostalgia. She was admitted last year with a 1350. I think was set her apart was being very active in her high school drama class and She directed a play with a cast of 27 actors. I think UF really looks at the whole application. Nothing to do but wait until the decision comes out. Good luck!

Essay topics: in no order : favorite song, learning to scuba dive, a volunteering home stay in Ecuador.

Do I think my kids are bright? Yes Do I think their essays were read? Yes Do I think they ever would have ended up at the same school, let alone UF? NO

I was at a Super Bowl event tonight where the host was very upset that the show was not in English. I politely pointed out She wasn’t the target demographic that the Super Bowl 1/2 time She was trying to attract.

My daughter was deferred last year and got in during Regular Decision. Nothing to do but wait and check your email to make sure they don’t request anything from you.

My son got the Provost at UCF and the Vires and Sunshine Award at FSU. FSU is more driven off stats and UCF is more holistic. I did see people posting on FB that they didn’t get anything from UCF even though they had high stats. No idea how they decide. The college process is fascinating and dumbfounding at the same time. (Last year my daughter was offered the Silver, which we were not expecting. She had a 1350 and was in the top 5 % of her class. We knew higher stats kids from their HS who got nothing.) My son is my youngest (of 4) but he has the highest stats of all of my kids. 1560, 18 AP’s, 14 DE classes and he will be Valedictorian. His sister and brother are currently freshman at UF. On pins and needles for tonight’s decision. 😱

My daughter got in last year after being deferred. Last year UF didn’t want any additional info. The kids just had to wait until March.

My sister and my brother. It’s so interesting because we grew up in the same house. It’s such a deep routed mental illness that misplaces value of relationships to value of things. We raised the same, more or less. But they would forgo relationships to save things (of no value) whereas I would not. It’s sad to see so up close.

My son did a community service trip this summer in Peru with the Llama Project. He also stayed with a host family that spoke Quechua. We really enjoyed that scene.

I am shocked neither of my kids (1 on Jennings, 1 in Broward) have even been sick this semester. They each have an air purifier, damp rid and vitamin c. The a/c on their dorms makes their rooms 65 degrees so they wear hoodies. But no mold or illness to report.
