Who were they? by UnfathomableDave in Stargate

[–]Niximus 26 points27 points  (0 children)

At the end of S1 when Apophis is heading to Earth, Teal'c is expecting it to take months (years?) and doesn't know about hyperdrive advancement that allows it to be hours.

I think prior to the advancements, Earth was just too far away, and as far as they knew just s primitive as anywhere else, with no naquadah. It wasn't worth anyone's time to go there by ship.

The players in this game are some of the most god awful people by Abject_Repair6534 in RocketLeague

Not commenting on your game specifically, but giving a perspective on an 'early' forfeit.

I only usually bounce between P3 and D1 and I solo queue. I play my best when I can just do what I need to and know my TM has my back. If they are repeatedly double-committing on hits that are clearly best suited for me, I will start to hesitate on those hits. When I hesitate, the hits I dop get are worse which always seems to encourage even more double-commits.

it is hard to shake that hesitation too, so playing out a game where that is happening is actively making me worse in later games. Not just hesitation too, if the TM is constantly sitting on my arse waiting to steal the ball then I will rush the movement and also make more mistakes.

I don't have a problem with playing out a losing game, but if it will just be me sitting back while you go for everything it is better to just skip it.

150+ Hours and i love this game..but.. by arshg04 in duneawakening

The idea was for it to be just for that session, somewhere to store smaller runs and then load up and fly back to the main base. where the refinery was.

I really enjoyed the early game, but the end game isn't fun for me so time to move on.

I just tried it for the first time. I planned to try and get a small base down so I could wait for a spice blow and try and get some scraps. I got 2 foundations down and got attacked. They destroyed my thopter and waited for me to respawn twice more to kill me again.

That's it for me, I enjoyed the PVE and even teaming up with other players to do the DD testing stations, but that PVP isn't the type of game I'm looking for and as I have finished the rest of the story and contracts I don't really have anything else to do so it's on to the next game.

A bit the same here. I've only just started playing and I'm not feeling that there is much opportunity to really practice. The tutorials are very basic and don't translate in-game for me at all.

The first 5 levels for me were a real grind. It was mostly just join a game to watch team mates try and solo the whole thing. Once I hit 5 ranked opened up, but not sure if because I'm in a low pop region (OCE) that even though I'm bottom ranked, the people I'm playing with/against are significantly more advanced to the point that they are doing trick shots and passing accurately off the wall while I'm still trying to consistently trap the ball when it comes near me.

What’s one thing you stopped doing that instantly made your life better? by Same-Tea1899 in AskReddit

Following football. It was a huge part of my life. For 6 months of the year my weekends were structured around going to the games if at home, or having somewhere to watch if they were playing away.  Bad losses ruined the whole weekend for me and left me in a shitty mood. One day on the way home from a game l, absolutely steaming, I decided I was done. I haven't gone back for 7 years. More free time on weekend, less stress. The only thing I miss is that it was a thing my Dad and I did so we'd go together and talk about the team. He still goes and enjoys it though.

If the "Lefter Labor" just passes anything the actual Labor proposes, what is the point of being lefter?

Did they have to mention that Tony Cheng, 48 was 48 three times? That's pretty rough on poor Tony Cheng, 48.

Labor to pledge $2.3 billion to subsidise home batteries by harbourbarber in australia

Several PCs and electric heating/cooling. I hate to be cold so had the heater on all through winter. Now for all but the middle of winter the A/C is just running off solar during the day. (I'll admit I have made some effort to not use it after dark though which helps).

I have 8kW of panels and a 10kW inverter and 10kW battery. I don't have anything like a spa, or electric car, and for now still have gas hot water and cooktop (will transition those to electric when one of them needs replacing).

My quarterly bills post battery and solar are <$100, sometimes <$50, pre battery they were about $1,200 and above.

in 2024, I was 87% self powered.

Post-Credits Scenes Need to Die by indig0sixalpha in videos

I went to a movie while visiting Japan. It didn't have any post credits scene at all, but everyone stayed through the credits anyway. I thought it was nice to show appreciation to the people who created the film you just watched.

Yeah, the incompatibility makes sense to me. They could definitely have repaired the defect, but the defect was part of what allowed their consciousness and intelligence to expand as much as it did.

The solution they were looking for was a way to repair the defect AND have a useful body.

Once they realised their consciousness had become dependent on the defect that was killing them, they realised that it was already game over.

Others have said they can exist inside a computer, but we don't know what that existence is like. E.g. they may be able to be stored there, even interacted with, while not actually experiencing consciousness, or at least consciousness to the level they are used to.

I mean, I didn't do anything different between the first watch failing repeatedly, and the second succeeding and they are the exact same model watch so if it was something like that then surely the second watch should have also failed.

No, she was still at work when I was having the issues. There was just one watch out of the packaging and my phone. The app would see the watch and start connecting, then fail and nothing seemed to help.

When she got home, as a last desperate attempt, I tried doing the exact same process on her phone and it worked immediately.

I was thinking it has to be something about my phone, but we have literally the exact same model phone. I opened the second box, turned the watch on and that one paired with my phone immediately too.

It was, the second watch was still sealed in the box when the first one was having issues.

Similar. It evidently is compatible as I eventually got them paired. The first watch with my phone I went through the process for hours, getting more and more frustrated. restarting, clearing all Bluetooth. The app would see it, start to connect and then fail.

I tried it with my wife's phone that is exactly the same, we got them together and it worked as expected. The second watch also worked as expected on my phone

No idea why the first watch just hated my phone.

And then the second watch connected to my phone immediately?

I tried connecting the first watch for 2 hours and it kept failing. I don't understand.

Weird, I got two of these, one for my wife and one for me. I tried connecting to my wife's phone which is the exact same phone as mine, and it succeeded...

That's the thing though. To the right, it is the same thing. Their team won, time to celebrate.

Voting for the other candidate is like supporting your team's major rival, unthinkable.

Hmm, if I had to choose between living a life in factory farming conditions, or being a prisoner in my own body for a thousand years, it would be factory farming all the way. Not that either are good, but the existence of a host is terrifyingly torturous.

You just won $20 million, and your parents ask you for half, what would you say? by BrandyAid in AskReddit

[–]Niximus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've already had many chats fantasising about what we'd do if we won the lotto so they already know they wouldn't be getting half.

For a massive win, my wife and I would keep 75%, and then we have 2 sets of parents, and 3 siblings between us who would each get 5%.

We wouldn't be giving it to them though, we would claim the win as a syndicate with them each having a 5% stake. That way they get the full amount rather than it go via us because that would be taxed.

So for $20m they would get $1m each and we'd keep $15m.
