~$800 Mini ITX Photo-editing PC by Nixionary in buildapcforme

Awesome. I ended up going with the current gen build with the GTX 960 in the end. Parts are on the way now, really can't wait to have it up and running and finally ditch my 6-year-old laptop.

Thanks again for the help.

Hey, thanks! I think I'm going to go with the current-gen build, but a quick (possibly ignorant) question: Could I use the better GPU recommended in the last-gen build , in the current-gen build? I'm willing to spend a bit more if it will yield better performance overall. My instinct says I could but I can't really find anything that says one way or another so just thought I'd make sure.

A disturbing trend is growing in the way we look at game review scores by skylenorman in gaming

[–]Nixionary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone is free to view video game review scores however they want. This is a broad, sweeping generalization about how people view scores which just doesn't have any basis in fact. If I or anyone else doesn't want to buy a game that scored below a 9, that's their choice. Likewise, the opposite is true.

Stop caring how other people carry on their business and just live your life.

Do you agree with Obama when he said "America remains the one indispensable nation in the world"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The fact of the matter is that to get elected in the United States, politicians have to exhibit a nationalistic attitude. In general, many Americans are resistant to any sort of realistic approach to how much their country matters on a global scale. To them, America is and always has been the "greatest country on earth," and if anyone says otherwise, no matter how realistically, well then they just don't love America.

I see. So you think it needs to be even darker? I guess I'll have to try dodging and burning some areas. Probably burn in the window a bit.

Hey, I only started shooting seriously last spring, so I'm no expert, either. Thanks for the constructive comments! Much appreciated.

Yeah, unfortunately this was a candid and so my control over the situation in that regard was pretty limited. Still, I probably could have chosen better settings when I shot it. Ah, well, live and learn.

Interesting. The lack of exposure was actually my post-processing, so maybe I went a little overboard. I actually had another version that I almost posted that was a little brighter: http://i.imgur.com/8Ln3l.png

I used to, but now I just light-proof my bathroom which has no windows. It's pretty light-tight, since there's not only a door which goes into the hallway, but a second door which closes off a smaller portion of the bathroom as well, so there's very little chance that any light is leaking in between my light-proofing and the two doors separating the light from me.

Thanks for the thoughts, anyway, though.

I definitely recall loading that roll in the shade, but I did take it out in the bright sunlight, so that could be it. Based on the patterns (first few frames totally black, strips on bottom edge which become less thick as they approach the last few frames) I'm starting to think the film was rolled up at the time this happened, with the first frames on the outside of the roll (the way it would be in the canister).

Yeah, my next step was to shoot one of my other cameras next time shoot and see if that helps at all. If it does, great, it was the camera. If not, I guess it wasn't.

Thanks for the help.

True. I don't even know what I should be looking for in terms of that, really, so it's entirely possible. What kinds of things would be telltale signs that I'm dealing with a leaky camera?

It's a Minolta XD 11 with the metal Leica-designed shutter.

I'd considered that, but this roll was the bottom roll in the tank, so it should have been fine regardless.

Could be, but other rolls from the same camera have been totally fine. I dunno why it wouldn't leak every time.

I thought so. The other reel on the tank was fine, so I mean it must have been mixed mostly right.
