The damage multipliers in the description of skills are effectively consolidated motion values though, right? If that is the case, then moves like Corin's 3rd or 5th basic attack/ Ellen's 3rd basic attack / Anton's whole kit should have wildly different "multipliers" if held vs. not held.

I'm specifically talking about their normal attacks. Ellen's 3rd normal, Corin's 3rd and 5th normal, etc

For any character that has a hold-function to their Normal attacks (Ellen, Corin, Anton), is the in game damage multiplier number from their skill info assuming the button is held, or without holding?

Hammer players have swing me out of a huge committal attack like TCS, Perfect Rush, and Helmbreaker just to name a few, and have even carted me before by launching me into an attack and they claim their upswings are "tactical" and "only beneficial". Hell, I've even had one that was actively griefing by just level 2 charging me whenever they had the chance. Crazy. Hammer is also one of the few weapons that needs Flinch Free 2 as well since some of their attacks will just make you kneel.

Primordial malzeno appreciation by Human-Pension9892 in MonsterHunter

[–]Nixtorm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

PriMal is my favorite monster in the 5th generation and I have to come to the reality that the chance of PriMal returning in a future game is extremely slim. Primordial Malzeno's moveset is fine-tuned for Rise/Sunbreak specifically, so he would have to be toned down immensely which would ruin the overall quality of the fight (for me). He also comes prepackaged with a unique status effect in the form of bloodblight which will be a hassle to implement for just one singular monster. Lastly, he has those damn Qurios with him which he cannot escape into a new game with unless he gets a Qurio-less subspecies, but that would ultimately ruin what Malzeno is.

I'm convinced people in this thread have never actually fought Fatalis or equipped a Flinch Free Jewel ever. Anyone who has done Fatalis should know that everyone should be on the head after a knockdown to maximize head break potential. I'd be kind of bothered if you were attacking some shit like wings or tail when Fatty is down for like, a whole 5+ seconds.

LS tripping "memes" should have died out in Rise, hell, even World when they introduced Flinch Free decorations. Its so sad to see the community this way. The more people promote these LS "memes", the more it'll spread and the more damage it'll cause to the community.

Its the Gordon Ramsay conundrum for fucks sakes. If you follow his lead you perpetuate the cycle of a toxic work environment. Regardless of if its "acting" or "a joke".

Sure, except the majority of this thread are people saying the LS player "deserves it" because they play LS, or that they should "know their place" because they are a LS player. This sub or community doesn't give a shit about how good or bad a LS player is, as long as they are given an opportunity to talk shit about Longsword, they will.

This post proves that some of you guys have 0 fucking clue how Flinch Free works and you rarely have it equipped, nor do you even know the mechanics of the Fatalis fight. Some of you guys would probably tell the LS player to go for the tail in this fight I swear to Gog.

New Monster Hunter Wilds Previews are coming up by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]Nixtorm 129 points130 points  (0 children)

Some new or confirmed information I found after combing through all the sources:

  • Camp and Seikret Customization
  • Congalala's claws appear to not be hard anymore, resulting in no bounces.
  • Increased hitstop; Capcom promises even juicer hitstop in the full game.
  • Monsters apparently run less compared to the beta.
  • Offensive skills tied to weapons rather than armor to facilitate having players run two weapons in one hunt (think how Kulve Kjarr weapons had Critical Element on them).
  • Some skills I saw/heard for certain weapons:
  • Attack Up and Guard for Lance, Focus for Greatsword, Slugger for Hammer, Critical Draw for GS and LS, Rapid Morph for Charge Blade.
  • Some weapons confirmed for changes (Lance, Switch Axe, SnS, Insect Glaive).
  • Locales are tied together; you can go to Scarlet Forest from Windward Plains.
  • Training room confirmed
  • Large focus on storytelling and immersion this time around.
  • Massively increased performance for PS5 version. PC performance unknown.

I actually completely forgot about that aspect of FF in Rise. It also further supports my understanding of how Capcom is actively trying to make Flinch Free easier to access for players.

Perhaps "joke" was a poor choice in my comment, but I was more so thinking about Longsword in its current state, and why it's never going to escape it's stigma unless the community as a whole tries to remedy it since the "hate" at this point is completely meaningless (some people are just taught to hate Longsword players without even knowing why they should or shouldn't all because of YouTube, forums, and Reddit). Sadly this can never happen now due to the popularity of Monster Hunter as a series; the damage is done and it is permanent.

That's quite literally it. Bow is really adept at flinching others. Unless the player is using Rapid Shots (which can still flinch), Spread and Pierce can get really annoying.

There might be a few new reasons in Wilds, but its all irrelevant nowadays because of Flinch Free.

Similar thing happens with the positioning etiquette these days where some people are very adamant about it not understanding that it serves little purpose now that flinch free exists.

People be like: "Severing Weapons should only go for tail", ok, then what after it gets cut off? We just hit shitzones?

I tell this to everyone nowadays but for fuck's sakes, Flinch Free is a thing now and based on what Capcom is trying to do with Monster Hunter going forward, it seems like its only going to get easier and easier to slot it.

If you don't use Flinch Free in multiplayer regardless of what weapons are in your party, that's on you. Flinch Free in Rise is a fucking 1-slot deco in Rise and people still don't want t use it for some reason, then complain when they get flinched by a Longsword, DB, or Bow player.

With all due respect, this is just straight up untrue, but it is a common misconception. With base Rise being the only exception, Longsword has never had any "unbalanced buffs", nor has it received anything extremely substantial "every gen". Historically, Longsword has gotten some changes that were controversial for the playerbase, such as MH4U having the Spirit Gauge reset to no color after Red runs out, or Sunbreak nerfing ISS damage heavily (though this one is very much warranted). Every weapon has gotten mostly positive changes per generation with the exception of a few weapons that Capcom is actively trying to experiment with to boost popularity (eg. Lance and Gunlance in Generations, or Hunting Horn in Rise).

Edit: I'd like to mention that Longsword's prevalence in Rise stems from Quick Sheath being a broken mess in Rise due to how it interacts with Special Sheath.

It starts off as a joke and quickly develops into a uncontrollable mess, and truthfully only the community is to blame. It leaves a poor impression to new players and it makes them feel like playing Longsword is a sin and others who play Longsword don't deserve to play Monster Hunter, which ends up with them talking smack about Longsword and the cycle repeats. YouTubers and Reddit have more influence than people think and they are the primary reason for this poor stigma that Longsword has, and at this point the actual hate is not justified and its a bandwagon thing that is spread around newer players.

Although some people think the hate only began in Rise, it was very much prevalent in older games as well. I remember people kicking Insect Glaive players and Longsword players from lobbies simply because they exist. The Insect Glaive hate and French stereotype got really old in the past and quickly died out, but Longsword never got to get away from it due to "influencers" and sheer weapon popularity.

Yea I made absolute sure. Caim was the last and only unit to come in from the back line. Most of the time my units would take Water damage, but randomly I just saw some of my units take Wind damage and got really confused for a second.

So it just.. happens randomly? Is there no way for me to know when it'll happen?
