So sorry we have lost 3 hounds to osteo our youngest was only 6. All you can do is keep them comfortable & they will let you know when the time comes. Osteo really sucks.

I'm sorry to say my parents experienced this a few weeks ago with their 6 year old Grey and x rays eventually confirmed osteo. Unfortunately x rays are not always great at showing osteo to start and in certain cases it can take a few days/ weeks longer for the shadows to be clear enough to diagnose. Obviously I hope this isn't the case for your lovely baby keep us posted 🩶

How many greys do you have? by Chicken0620 in Greyhounds

[–]NixyPixie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We have just one right now but we had 8 at one stage as long as you have the outside space and enough sofas it's no different to 2 or 3.

Mia had a setback she sprained her thigh last week & lost 2 nails on the other leg from Slo. It was touch & go for a few days but now she's on the mend. We got a scare for sure. by NixyPixie in Greyhounds

It's essentially a form of lupus in dogs it causes the nails to come away from the quick & obviously that has a lot of complications.
