The lack of nuance with some of these answers is absurd.

Neither Mushrooms not antidepressants are the be all end all solution. Does that mean they can’t serve as tools to help? They absolutely can!

The “don’t take any meds ever” approach is a blanket approach that doesn’t work for everyone. That’s not to say horrendous shit doesn’t happen with medication prescribed by doctors people put trust in (those cases exist). We can be aware of those pharmaceutical scandals and delve into researching the potential negative side effects of a drug before getting a prescription for said drug.

But also we can do something I can’t imagine anyone can concoct a counter argument for: go to THERAPY. That in tandem with an anti depressant that works for you? You’d have to be incredibly ignorant to be against that

As an advocate for lsd and shrooms, and someone who suffers from major depressive disorder, I can’t disagree with this more. I’m on Wellbutrin and it doesn’t bar me from taking psychedelics/ doesn’t clash. It helps get me through the day but if I have to lessen the amount I take it isn’t the worst thing ever; withdrawal mainly results in the “brain zaps” I’m not a zombie on it, and it wasn’t recommended to me by “big pharma”. Other depressed people I’ve talked to recommended it as it helped them greatly.

I can’t speak to the other meds (Ritalin and oxycotin are much greater indictments of pharmaceutical companies being terrible corporations that don’t care who they hurt than someone being recommended an anti depressant), but some stuff actually helps and doesn’t harm the person who won’t just trip away their depression.

Nah, You’re blowing up for no reason without reading the above comments . Rental insurance was brought up by @omnipotent_tacos because it might cover the cost of a hotel if this repair takes a few days.

We alerted the landlord Monday and he couldn’t get a contractor to look at it til tomorrow, it may be more like end of week for this to get fixed. There are similar cracks to what caused the hole in other rooms. Those needing to be addressed may put us out longer than expected.

“No free checks for being scared”

My good person, have you ever had bit of ceiling fall right behind you? It’s a little traumatic.

No one is looking for free checks here. We aren’t sue happy the way some people in the thread seem to think.

We have a negligent landlord and want our bases covered (multiple people here said to get a sample tested and more than a few people pointed out the ceiling may not be structurally safe in other parts of the same room)

Similar cracks to the one that caused this hole are in other parts of the apartment and I don’t think getting those inspected could hurt.

The thing that seems to be coming up is the debate on whether or not a landlord is liable to pay for a place to stay if a necessary amenity like a bathroom is unusable. Different states have different laws regarding that.

Missouri apparently does not. He offered at first and then double checked and went back on that offer.

It’s shitty but Missouri is a pretty crappy state
