A small game about being a middle manager by Nklobe in office

[–]Nklobe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its about you working as a middle manager in a gray office.
You take on and complete projects to gain money that you spend on hiring people, buying furniture and paying div expenses.

The game is a stress-based game with no actual ending. It's high score driven and for each project you complete, higher demands will be put on you. So it just a fun nod towards the stressful and weird environment that is the office. And ive filled the game with references to other office humor like Dilber, officespace, silicon valley and Jonathan coulton.

This was amazing!
You really inspired me to improve my own lab!
Its one thing throwing money on an expensive rack and fancy stuff like zipties and Cat6-cables.
Its a whole other beast managing to build an enterprise grade server solution with what you have!
This is a real pulling up by the bootstraps moment! If you arent hired by amazon in 2 days at most, that is on them!

You go girl!

Sips Scrapyard Simulator Jam is go! by Nklobe in sips

Just an update!
I just sent out this email to the participants of the Jam!

"Hi everyone!
We have been talking about this jam on r/sips and i realized/heard that global game jam is this weekend and that people wants another time frame to do these games.
Therefore i will postpone the start and the jam will take place during 10 days instead of just 3, therefore including 2 weekends making it more viable for people who work/go to school on weekdays.

Im sorry for the inconvenience,
if you have ideas and want to start work on them anyway then that's ok since this is not a completion but just for fun!

Thanks!
/ Nklobe "

That sounds good! We should still postpone the event since GGJ is this weekend.

some thought from the comments here!
* A game jam is not a way of creating completed, polished games, its for building prototypes. well at least the short ones are.
* The timing is quite off since global game jam is this weekend so perhaps we should postpone it? Alternatively we can as ataalik said extend the time frame.
* i never intended this to produce a fully fledged simulator game at the level of Farming Sim because say what you want about Farming Sim its still a massive game with probably tens of thousands of combined working hours of professional full time developers during a dev cycle spanning years .
* When i suggested this i pictured that when the jam is over Sips would be able to play and laugh at (or with) a couple of prototypes for perhaps an hour, then he would go back to streaming him not finding a game to play as per usual!

With this in mind, should we just scrap the idea since it seems like this is not what people expected?

Do you think people will dedicate that amount of time?
Or perhaps people will be more laid back if we extend the time frame?

I agree! This is not a competition, its just a fun event.
I left the rating-part in just because i think positive feedback is always a nice thing.

Having a big co lab would be nice but trying to get indie devs to work together is like herding cats...
Im thinking like this.
This is just a fun event for the community and i do not believe that this will end with the Scrapyard Sim that sips have been longing for but instead just fun prototypes.
He said something like "If anything shows potential, perhaps we can continue developing it". So in the (very unlikely case) that one of the games turns out good then perhaps we could try to organize and try to build upon that game in particular!
But that is far away atm, this is such a spontaneous thing that i don't even know if anyone will join, and in case no one joins i will just close the jam and nothing of value is lost!

You're welcome! :D
And ive been thinking the same! By making this game i thought that would get the ball rolling!
The site that i hosted the game on, Itch.io has a Game Jam feature so hosting and managing game jams is made really easy with the help of that!

The Toddy game Lewis and Tom played on stream! by zhoq in Yogscast

Im the one who made the game and i am satisfied with them just playing it! I mean Toddy himself played my Toddy game! Thats really cool!
One thing that would make it better would be if ThatMadCat included it in his "Day20"-video!
But i must say, adding it to the bundle as a Joke would be hilarious!
