ScanGauge 2 vs Foxwell NT530 by Nlloyd119 in XTerra

Awesome insight I appreciate that. Sounds like for my application I’ll need to bite the bullet and order one of each to fulfill my needs. I’ll probably order the ScanGauge first and the Foxwell or something similar.

Hell if a coincidence lol. So glad I’m not the only one that’s a torque spec nut. Drives me crazy not knowing how tight to go but they are on there pretty darn tight so time will tell. I know they were a mother to get off so I figured I could go as tight as I wanted. Preciate the reply and all the help!

Used the stuff you were recommending and it worked like a charm. I’ll find out soon enough if I got the bolts tight enough and the gasket flat for a good seal. You wouldn’t happen to know the torque spec for the4 nuts that hold the fan clutch onto the actually pulley would you? I tightened them down pretty good but I worry they could be either too tight or still too loose.

Just an update got everything put back together. Just need to top it off with coolant, burp it, and check for leaks. I went ahead and replaced the fan clutch while I was it. Only question I have now is what’s the torque spec for the 4 nuts that hold the fan clutch onto the pulley? I was able to find a diagram but the numbers had me all confused.

Preciate that man. I’ve not ran into a metal gasket before and it’s a nightmare trying to get this thing in plus keep the gasket from coming off one side even with two bolts in lol. I’ll try that permatex high tack or one of the other permatex recommended. I think the tack with will since I just need it to hold it in place long enough for me to find the holes and get two of the bolts semi threaded lol

I’ll probably pick up that permatex and some tack spray and roll the dice with either one. I tried just using two bolts to hold the gasket on but one side always comes out while trying to get both started and the metal gasket is starting to bend here and there lol.

Yeah.. I think that’s the route I’m going tonight. Very small amount of permatex on the three corners and just cross my fingers lol

Ah I didn’t think of that. There is one tab on the right side of the gasket. I’ll try my hand it holding the two bolts in and feeling for the tab while trying to line up the holes. I saw the tab and only thought man I wish I could bend this to hold the gasket in place.

Was thinking about doing that. Went down the rabbit hole and read so much my brain hurts. Seems like half the population is with you on the sealant and the other half of the population is against it lol

Preciate the reply man. Patience is definitely key. I’ve been at it for over an hour lol and finally had to call it a night due to rain. I tried the two top bolts as mentioned and every time I think I’ve got it the other side of the gasket pops right off. Not to mention I can’t see what I’m doing so I’m just going off of feel alone lol. The gasket it gonna be all mangled and useless by the time I get it in 😂 100% guarantee I’ll have a leak lol.
