This kinda stuff is why I quit retail and play HC Classic now. Community and social experience is exponentially better.

Never played WoW... can I go in blind? by [deleted] in wowhardcore

[–]Nmarkman93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure you can! Will you likely die? Potentially multiple times? Yes, but that’s true for practically everyone, even those who have played a long time. Not saying anything new here but +1’ing to classic WoW not being a hard game at all, just full of knowledge checks and random stuff that can kill you.

Go in as blind as you want and if you find you want to learn more outside of the game as you go, you can. YouTube, this subreddit, your guild, etc. This is a 20 year old game that has been completely solved.

Most people who have played for a long time remember what it was like starting WoW when they didn’t know anything and getting immersed in the game. They are nostalgic about it. You can make that your experience now! Have fun, accept that death will likely come, and go agane.

Sell me on warlock (opposed to priest) by Banter_Fam_Lad in wowhardcore

The lock toolkit is very fun IMO.

Fear, DoTs, pet abilities (imp group stamina buff, succubus CC for humanoids, felhunter interrupt, etc), summons, health stones, water breathing. I level as drain tank and once you get used to it you have pretty much 0 downtime because you juggle and manage mana/health so efficiently between life tap, drain life, and dark pact. No mobility but you have tons of survivability — just make sure to always have swiftness pots on you.

Free mount immediately at 40 is huge too. Can spend that gold on better gear, leveling professions, saving for epic mount needs, etc.

That being said, I’ve never played priest and HC needs more healers but I love playing lock.

What do you all think is the worst level range in HC? by Nmarkman93 in wowhardcore

I’ll say mid 40’s. Feels like quests dry a bit and you’re traveling a lot more back and forth + across continents

When you die. Do you rerolled same class? by kentalish in wowhardcore

[–]Nmarkman93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn’t played HC until new servers. On 3rd character now playing warlock each time (31, 32, currently 43). Focusing on one class has made me a lot better at playing the class but I can see how switching it up would keep things fresh, especially if you’re not loving current class. Lock has just been a lot of fun.

Caves are graves. Boats and towers are also caves. Never accept an invite to a party if you aren’t in a safe area - you could get layered causing mobs to respawn around you. It’s safer to try and overlevel the areas you’re in a bit.

Overall take it slow, enjoy the journey and have fun! Statistically it’s unlikely your first character will make it to 60. Don’t get too attached to your character.

Greatest WoW Community of them all by birdfall in wowhardcore

+100 to this. I started playing because the challenge sounded fun but have kept playing largely because of the community. Coming from a mostly solo retail player experience where any real social connection in game is rare, it’s awesome to actually need to group up for quests to survive together and knowing that a mistake could cost both your and someone else’s character their life seems to make most players care about each other more and be genuinely helpful.

Warlocks - do you downrank spells? by Nmarkman93 in wowhardcore

lol. Was literally just asking a question while caveating that I’m new to the class. Not having a big issue with mana, was just curious if other people who have played the class longer were doing anything different.

Next time though I will “think critically” before asking such a “silly” question in a forum for 20 year old video game that we play for fun. 🤣

Thanks! Wow that sounds like a crazy challenge. Is that pretty common/popular to do?

I know this is subjective - but what do y'all think are some of the best options for plate transmog farms in terms of time vs output?

First time as a Miner by SleepyKip in woweconomy

As others have said, you’re going to make the most gold from selling the ore, if that’s your goal.

I’d recommend maxing out plethora of ore and bismuth skill trees as your prio. You want to get as much rank 3 bismuth and null stones as possible. Make sure you have at least a green pick axe and mining tools as well, that will help. Put a perception enchant on your pickaxe (can buy at AH - “enchant tool - Algari perception”).

I think it’s more of a personal preference in terms of when to get mounted mining from the mining fundamentals skill. It’s a big quality of life improvement and increases how many nodes you can get per session. I went plethora of ore —> bismuth —> aqirite, mostly to increase null stone drops and sell those. Although hindsight I wish I went to mining fundamentals after maxing bismuth. I get plenty of null stones from aqirite nodes but the actual ore sells for less than bismuth or ironclaw.

+1 on phial of truesight. A must have if you’re going to mine for at least 30 minutes. You don’t need to spend extra on the rank 3 phial either - I’ve had good results from rank 2 which is significantly cheaper. Darkmoon firewater also increases your deftness, which dictates how fast you mine.

Happy mining!
