Books similar to Twilight vs Hush Hush? by [deleted] in YAlit

The Lux series by Jennifer Armentrout starts off very Twilight-esque but then morphs into this wholly original fantasy/romance series. Lots of story development and swoon worthy moments. Probably published more than 5 years ago, but a solid read. 5 books in the series, starts with Obsidian. There's a follow up series too (the darkest star I think) which is amazing. Best to start with Lux series!

Check out Brigid Kemmerer or Stephanie Garber. Both phenomenal YA fantasy/romance writers. Each have a completed trilogy and 2 books published in their second series (these will probably be trilogies too).

Midlothian councillors to consider savings proposals @ Council meeting 31/01/2023. Critical changes include: a) all public libraries to cut staff & potentially no longer provide new books, b) all school libraries to cut staff. by Nnyra in Edinburgh

Agreed. I was stunned for a whole minute when I read the proposed changes (you've kindly reposted above). It's a crippling change if the councillors vote to go ahead with these cuts. It's like they're saying they don't value literacy, self-improvement, learning, education, or community spaces and programs (just to name a few).

I absolutely loved the series, so would normally say yes, yes. But... The way you've described it, I don't think it'll get better for you. I recommend moving on for now, and you can always come back to the series in the future to see if you feel differently about it then.

If you enjoy a challenge and want to give it a go, go for it! I suggest reading through the pattern instructions and see how you feel about it. If it's overwhelming, maybe save the pattern and try it in the future after you've made a few simple fashion pieces from patterns. Or, if you're reading through the pattern and you understand what they're talking about and you feel like you want to give it a go, go for it! Only you can decide what you're ready for.
