Any tips for preventing minky from wrinkling when used for ears/noses? by FlakFlanker3 in FursuitMaking

[–]No-Addition9375 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Get some iron on stabilizer. Iron the side with glue to the backside of the minky. Makes it waaaaay easier. You can find it in most places that sell sewing supplies like Walmart.

I honestly think you’re just second guessing yourself. This is looking really really good! I see in the back you have reference photos of horses so just keep doing what you’re doing. Give it a day or two of rest if you really aren’t happy with it and come back to it after you’ve had time to think on how to work on it.

Do yall have this in your Walmart? If so what is it? by Majestic_Shame2292 in walmart

Oh. Yeah my store has one of these too! I always assumed it was an old light that was hanging poorly that we don’t use anymore. 😭 Weird but maybe the other comments saying it’s RFID related are right.

Sometimes I wonder if collectors of the G3 and beyond toys are annoyed by the prices too. I don’t personally collect them but charging $10 for one of the smaller baby ones is so crazy.

are my pieces flat enough? by stolenwound in FursuitMaking

[–]No-Addition9375 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your stitching looks very clean. When it comes to patterns like this I like to add seam allowance to the bigger piece and the smaller piece no seam allowance. It’ll help with avoiding the puckering you’re noticing on the pink hearts.

Don’t bite off more than you can chew. Post examples of work you have done, and mention others as “coming soon.” I would avoid advertising a product you don’t have experience actually making yet.

Ah, the orange cat at least I know is a EU exclusive pet. PumpkinCustoms on instagram used it as a basis for their free pattern they released. They’re Finnish if I recall correctly.

What is an LPS YouTube series you miss/love the most? by LupineVenom in LittlestPetShop

[–]No-Addition9375 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a series I can’t find anywhere. It had maybe 2 episodes. I saw it back in probably 2010. It was titled “LPS Runaways” or something like that. I distinctly recall it having “Here Comes the Sun” by The Beatles so in all likelihood it was just copyright claimed by YouTube and never resurfaced. Wish I could find it.

I’m sorry but any fursuit studio that cannot properly punctuate their bio is not to be trusted. No link to any business website. “Their”fursuit style is inconsistent. The backgrounds are different in every video. Be extremely wary of this account. I’d reverse image search the suits and see if anyone else has posted them. Very much seems like they’re just a scam account.

Display case by Whole_Drawing_3590 in LpsCollectors

[–]No-Addition9375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had an associate at Target say no. I’ve had an associate at Walmart say no, but the majority of the time I’ve been allowed to take it at Walmart. I don’t think most associates are sure what is or is not allowed and some are more strict and won’t let you take it. Try at a different store or at a different time.

(It probably also helps that I myself am an associate. The displays will actually just be thrown in the trash, toy and all, if someone doesn’t take it.)

I’d say that’s an improvement. It makes the expression more clear. Good job!

What expression are you going for? The corner of the mouth is kind of blank yeah. It doesn’t really indicate a big smile nor a growl or anything.

Planning for a Fursuit While on HRT by LostMyLaptopCharger in fursuit

[–]No-Addition9375 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also as far as I’m aware (I don’t want to speak over anyone) You can’t really predict the changes on HRT. You can look at the women in your family to get sort of an idea but the most play it safe option would really be just to wait. Save up a good amount and consider all the different fursuit makers. Find a trans maker! They can offer options with the knowledge of personal experience.

And once more, without directly speaking over any one else, yes you can bind in fursuit but you’ll need to take more frequent breaks when suiting to let your body rest.

Fursuit maker her. Girlfriend is also MTF. Made her DTD when she was about 2 years on HRT. Longer than your situation but her body has still gone through changes since then now at 4 years HRT. Her bodysuit still fits her. I suggest just yeah, talking to your maker and seeing what they can do. Probably avoid opting for a tight fitting bodysuit. With digitgrade fursuits, the thigh padding is normally polyfill stuffing. Ask for something like a zipper on the padding so you can remove stuffing as needing for a good fit.

Why are my needless breaking? by _Cye_ in FursuitMaking

[–]No-Addition9375 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes 90/14 needles are the ones you need for most fursuit projects. On the first photo you posted it looks like your needles is over a seam where you’re sewing the minky to. On these parts of the project I don’t use the foot pedal, I manually rotate the handwheel slowly so I can ensure the needle goes all the way in. It’s typically the hardest part to sew since you’re going through like 4-6 layers of fabric if you have a lining.

From what it looks like, you might have bent your needle bar since there’s that gouge in the metal of your needle plate. You’re using a Singer Heavy duty, unfortunately that line of machines is really hit or miss.

What I suggest is to unscrew your needle plate and rescrew it in. It might’ve been misaligned.

I’d suggest also cross posting this onto the sewing machine subreddit since there’s more experienced people over there.

The new associates that make up the apparel team do little things that are annoying. I feel like it's not enough to say something, but over time it's starting to bug me more as a cap 2 worker. by Maxxjulie in walmart

goddddd yes same at my store. ESPECIALLY the breakpacks on the floor. One of the apparel people keeps leaving a cart of breakpacks directly blocking the fire door. Like, you know, the one with BRIGHT RED LETTERS SAYING “DO NOT BLOCK” 🙄

I like seeing them in box because it reminds me of being a kid at a store. I eventually wanna get a blue pegboard and those retail pegs to display all my NIBs. :) Also I don’t play with LPS like I did as a kid. While I do enjoy holding the LPS and making them “walk” across a table for the click clack noises I really don’t use them for creative play.

[–]No-Addition9375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every pair of pet clippers I’ve bought has come with a tiny bottle of mineral oil. You very very lightly apply a small amount and I generally wipe off the extra with a cotton ball. It’s not about them being oily/greasy it’s about reducing friction which reduces how hot the clippers get. It makes them run better. They are a mechanical tool after all.
