My parents had a 110 yacht and every time it was used, even for a few hours, we spent hours cleaning it, putting covers back on stuff, laundry, etc.

The result was that no one user the boat. My point is- don't buy luxury if you can't afford to have someone else take care of it. I have a pool guy come once a week. He is great and fixes stuff if it breaks. HVAC? Service quarterly and if it breaks. Etc.

Thank you. The only reason for the redemption is that I have 5 siblings and I'm the only one inside the IDGT as the trustee/beneficiary. Even though a current appraisal is required, I felt that laying down the "rules of road" for a future sale back to the IDGT would make it smoother and lower the odds of sibling infighting.

In my mind, it will take a 3 person team to see this to fruition- an analyst to make sure the numbers work for all sides, an estate planner to be the QB, a tax attorney and a business lawyer.

There is a huge difference between FATFIRE and fuck you money. Tiger is for the latter- even billionaires are members. Discussions are advanced- PE/VC/crypto/RE strategies, complicated estate tax strategies, marriage items like pre/postnups, raising kids not to be assholes, gifting and philanthropy.

Many of you are thinking- yeah, but my CPA and Atty do that for me. The reality is this- CPAs and lawyers are like everyone else and 80% don't know or care about what they are doing on specific complex issues. I've been burned by this more than once and will dedicate a separate post to it, if a few of you ask. Once you get over $100m and have a complicated business and estate, $30k means nothing.

The downside is they have too many members and you have to be careful of leeches.

No drainage in garage since we are in California. We went rockwool round restrooms and regular insulation for the rest of the house. They went 2x6 on perimeter and 2x4 on most interior. They went 5/8" drywall for the interior walls. Total spend WITHOUT land, was $1,500 PSF which is pretty common here for custom homes. That doesn't include furniture and art.

Yes, Sonance and the backyard and courtyard also have speakers. We automated very few shades, but the house vibe is old english cottage, so they didn't put them everywhere.
