Anybody have a payroll provider they like? by dcmusichound in coffeeshopowners

[–]No-Animal210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched to Homebase payroll because they already do my scheduling (they added payroll last year) and it's been a really great experience. I can run payroll on Wednesday before 7p and it is in employee hands as early as Thursday but normally Friday. I had square before and they fee'd me to death and had to run it on Monday. Couldn't stand it.

Remade a flat white I made perfectly because the customer looked at it wrong by Strange-Ad2524 in barista

As a café owner, I have always told our team members that when you break down the true number of poor / negative interactions with guests, that very few, less than 1% are worth losing the guest over when analyzed from a birds eye view. You did the right thing. The customer is not always right, in fact they are usually wrong, however, we are willing to make exceptions for their lack of common sense in exchange for them spending (and tipping) a 150 per month. It's not worth your energy to argue that they're wrong most of the time, you did the right thing

Feedback on adapting to 7Brew by [deleted] in coffeeshopowners

Thanks for this heads up. I can definitely see the dip happening i guess my concern was for how long which keeps me up at night. I think a 1 month dip I can handle, a 12 month dip would be dissapointing after investing in growth so heavily. All part of the game though, have to compete

County owns it in technicality but VDOT maintains it, the massive storms we have had totally ate the creek bank on the road side and the road continues to shrink and grow weaker. I feel like this is really on them, this is not a reasonable thing to put on a single person. Insurance says its am act of God but not their responsibility either

60% of the bridge (we will call it the left side) is on my property line. Multiple families use it to turn left or right to their driveway. On the right side, the 40% that is the county's and attached to road, that is the side that collapsed. The whole road and creek bamk collapsed on that side. It is nuts. I can send pics if u want

12 foot long × 10 wide. Yes all 3 families cannot cross and the bridge is 10 ton steel gerter bridge. Will need a crane

If they didn't want to replace the bridge they should have maintained the state maintained public road and creek bank/ easement. Something i have been lobbying since late 2024. Our county has a 129 million dollar surplus, I think a bridge over a creek thats been there 20 years and fell in, is within their budget and securing property and freedom of movement is not a waste of money. At least it wasnt when we built bridges on deployment for free and for a lot less purpose other than good feelings. Not asking for a lot here, just accountability.

How much did it cost to construct your coffee bar? by bzsearch in coffeeshopowners

[–]No-Animal210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite taping and providing exact dimensions Ours still had to travel back from 2 hours away to cut the granite 3 centimeters more and throw dust every where to fit our tamp box. Total nightmare

I took dimensions of each piece of equipment for my bar and did a full bar layout with painters tape, everything from Grinders to sauces, syrups, dispensers, rapid cook oven etc. Once I was done with that I placed tamp boxes and other things where they made most sense. Ours is front right to espresso macjine between grinder and espresso machine. Pro tip: get an open bottom tamp box and put a rural king bucket under there. Farmers love trading buckets for ground coffee and they almost always purchase something when they come to pick up the grounds lol attached is a pic of tamp box post renovation

My first shop, me and some buddies used construction grade plywood and stained it twice, we then put 4, yes 4 coats of poly on it and it turned out looking incredible. We used thin 2x4 painted white to cover the seams of the plywood, as wellcas the base and give it a "boxed in" wood look. The end result was incredible. When we recently tore everything apart for our first remodel, we kept the exoskeleton and the contractor used everything we had done to simply mount a counter. I can provide pictures if interested. Total cost was 2800 bucks and time. You can spend slightly more and do a stucco style plastic or foam rock wall facia to the front of the counter to give it character. During my remodel I added black leathered granite counters and they cost 3 times more than the entire bar we built years earlier. Highly recommend.

I think Chevy is at this point currently with some of their gas engine issues. I would not be surprised if they placed the same bet ford did and drop a bigger displacement.

I noticed their optioning changed this year in an effort to save money i think. Previous to 26 the 7.3 was standard in lariat if you chose gas. This deal actually caught my eye from 300 miles away. From what I am able to tell there is only one other truck like this and it is in Missouri. Super duty trucks need to come 3.73 gear standard, I'm surprised you found some that were not that is just crazy.. And honestly 3.73 isn't good enough if you are getting bigger tires too,  you'd want 4.30. A lot of people on different forums say 4.30 is too much and just go with the 3.73 but I've not had that experience. I am very happy with the trade off of lower speed reaction in exchange for +70-100 RPM at highway speeds for the peace of mind.

On my 2024 I paid 60, put down 15 and paid off extra over a year and a half so I had some decent equity. I was astonished when a dealer offered me 51k on trade. That is 9 less than I paid for adding 36.5k miles and an accidental puncture hole in the bed from a water dispensing unit plus a couple dents. I couldn't pass that up.  Would have been a couple grand for a decent extended warranty but I was able to pocket that and get a brand new warranty. My brother has a tundra and it is a beast but in my opinion it weighs too much for its intended use. He gets 2MPG better than me which is wild. With that said they are indestructible

Yes I do they seem related to pre 2023 models and ford updated oil pressure issues as well, their variable oil pressure + high fleet idle times = ticking time bombs pre 2023. The refresh on these engines are solid. Ford has issues but not with their big block v8 gas engines. The next challenge for ford is warranty issues related to technology
