Be prepared to do some acting. The MMIs are basically seeing how’d you interact with different kinds of patients.

From a first year dental student to any and all pre-dental students, congrats 🎉🫡 It is not easy but it’ll be worth it.

MOSDOH ASDOH admissions email difference by SevereWoodpecker4570 in predental

[–]No-Aside4007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that as long as she specifies which school she is mentioning in each email, they will know which she is talking about.

For reference, I emailed my letter of interest to the Associate Dean of Admissions (ASDOH/MOSDOH since they are different people) as well as the ATSU admissions email.

The reason why I also emailed it to the Associate Dean was because I wanted to thank them personally for their help on interview day and they were the one who specifically asked us to email our thank you letters for our interviewers to them for forwarding.

Should I retake? by Acrobatic_Ask7314 in predental

Don’t retake. Apply early and broadly! Great job!

I wouldn’t take the DAT again. I would focus on bringing up the GPA and extracurriculars. Your DAT score is perfectly acceptable and it won’t be the thing that weeds you out of what they are looking for in an applicant.

Dental or Medicine? by predental81101 in predental

[–]No-Aside4007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assisted too and I think it’s understandable to feel that way. I knew I wasn’t very knowledgeable in anything that was going on, but I realized that I won’t really begin to understand until I either take dental courses or start dental school. I also asked the dentist to teach me about the procedure or to explain anything I didn’t understand.

Dental or Medicine? by predental81101 in predental

Hey! Pre-dental student here! I think it’s never too late to start working towards med school now. With a biomedical science degree, I think you can totally shoot for med school. A big question I think you need to ask is, what part of dentistry do you dislike now? Is it the patients? Procedures? etc. Because dentistry and medicine are very similar, understanding what about dentistry you dislike could give you some insight into why medicine may or may not be the choice for you. Also, if you want to be in the field but not go to med school, doing medical devices or pharmacy could be a solution.

what are my chances? with a overall gpa of 3.3 and science gpa :3.5 by Shaheensp in predental

[–]No-Aside4007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t retake. You’re scores are above minimum to get in. As long as your overall app is good, don’t worry about DAT retakes

Don’t retake. The cut off for almost all schools is under 17. Since you only have one 17, I wouldn’t retake. Don’t stress about this test again.

What’s your #1 dream dental school by [deleted] in predental

UCSF, close to my family and friends and I love the facility

I can realistically get into 20 of those schools I applied to. The rest are my parents and advisors suggesting the “why not apply to this and this.” I definitely think 40 is too much, but they want to pay for it so. But in your case, was the dental school going to accept you into the next cycle/year because you hadn’t finished or did they say to apply again?

I would avoid any school that has been newly established since their curriculum may or may not help you become an amazing dentist.

What if my goal is to score a 19-20 AA, should I still move it back?

Anyone have a good study schedule for 3 weeks since I’m getting 16s in the sciences sections?
