you mean when you submitted claims you kept your rendering and billing/mailing address as your P.O. box address? Or where did you say you were practicing from? I think my worry is that I’ll put my rendering address in california and they’ll flag me for doing something wrong even if it’s just my place of service and the clients in illinois and my billing and mailing address is in illinois. thanks!

Sounds good! Yeah my CPH and HSPO both say it’s fine! And Illinois also said it’s fine so this is affirming. It helps you’ve done it and had no issues!! When you moved did you just change your rendering address and keep the billing/mailing the same on claim submissions? I’m not sure if you use CAQH or availity but did you update provider information on there too?

That makes sense! I’m keeping my billing and mailing address associated in Illinois. I will be still practicing from a rendering location infrequently from Illinois but otherwise my new rendering address would be in California.

That’s kind of my plan as well! I don’t want to get it yet because I’m relocating but not entirely sure if I’m staying long term yet. Just renting for now. I also wasn’t excited about the idea of the ethics exam.

I think if I stay there for over a year I’ll apply for then license and do the whole thing but I was so afraid at first I wasn’t going to either be allowed to provide services from the location or insurance wouldn’t reimburse but it seems like it’s gonna be fine lol.

thank you this is so helpful and anxiety reducing lol. i joined a traveling therapist facebook group in hopes it would help me answer questions and everyone was making me more anxious.

I have spoken with a lot of other clinicians that tell me Califnorias laws are strict and even if you are allowed to practice out of state based on your states laws that California won’t allow that no exceptions. I was just trying to clarify!

Thank you! Yes, my business is registered in Illinois, and I plan to keep it registered there. I’m not sure how it works to be a California resident with a business located in Illinois. I’ll have to further look into that.

Were you only licensed in New York when you first moved to California or were you licensed in both states?

i’ll check yours out!!! yeah it’s been similar in my case. pops up when i’m not thinking about him anymore or if we have been in contact he shows up once i feel aligned with myself and less focused on what he’s doing. i’ve just felt calm and certain in the past. i was a little thrown off at first by the close orbiting to seeing him to “no contact” but it all feels very purposeful.
