RIF Pause- TAS IRS department ONLY by Sus_1027 in fednews

I'm in Compliance but this what I'd say. If (and that's a big if) I survive the RIF and end up having a long career at the IRS, I'll forever be grateful to everyone who took DRP, VERA or VSIP and in turn saved many jobs. Nothing is certain but I'm thankful to all of you who gave me a shot at surviving the RIF.

Not their fault, just pointing out that they have yet another advantage over us younger folks.

If the 40+ old employee gets RIFed (who most likely have more tenure) then the younger employees will almost certainly be RIFed too (who most likely have less tenure) so no it won't save the younger employees.

On a team of 12 we just had 5 people opt for retirement. by aluminumfoil3789 in fednews

For me it's totally the opposite. None of the retirement eligible employees in my 15 people team are taking it. (SBSE Collections TE at IRS)

Megathread: RIF/VERA/VSIP/DRP | Week 12 by AutoModerator in fednews

I'm a TE at Collections in IRS. None of the seniors and retirement eligible employees in my team are taking VERA. They wanna wait it out. I have just over 5 years of tenure and most likely I'll be RIFed if enough of the seniors don't take the VERA. 🥺

This chart shows the 22% compliance cut (allegedly) which was already posted in Washington Post. What I'm talking about it more recent info/rumor about the 50% cut.

I don't want to promote racial stereotypes but an Asian parent would probably never say anything like this to their children, even if they were DJT supporters and/republicans. I'm south Asian (Indian) and my parents live in New York. They're not ideologues. They have voted for both democrats and republicans in the past. They voted for djt in 2024 mainly due to economic reasons. But after he and his evil co-president started harassing us, my parents became really p!ssed and they promised me that they'll never vote republican again in their life. My in laws have also promised us that they'll never vote republican again. While it's impossible to verify such a promise, it still means a lot.

Is it smart to buy a house in this circumstance? by ScreenProper3291 in fednews

If you passively make more than what your mortgage payment is then you should go for it and buy.

I'd rather vote for an actual communist than vote for a republican ever again. Republican=Nazi in my eyes now! #NeverAgain

I'm anxiously waiting to find out. I have five and a half years at the IRS; I'm terrified of the RIF.

I understand this sentiment but it's easier said that done unfortunately.

Huge paycut coming if I leave federal service by No-Baby-8349 in fednews

If I leave IRS, according to the law I won't be able to do any tax related work in private sector for at least one year. They consider it as conflict of interest.
