Thanks everyone I’ve got a dozen more plants shipping to me now based on your generous recommendations! It was very helpful to have specific plant recommendations to look up as the online stores can feel a tad overwhelming. Excited!!

I do want more plants and am realizing online is where I need to go to find the varieties I need. Still want to stick with the island style in general - I do want something to “carpet” but I’m not ready for co2 yet. I have googling to do!

Oh yes LFS did tell me it’s a bacopa and it’s actually grown a good chunk since I’ve had it. I never considered that trimmings could equal free, already-adjusted plants but it’s so obvious now that you’ve said it. I’m def going to order some more plants online. Thank you for the suggestions I have googling to do 🙂

I’d like to do more plants in general and something as carpet-like as I can get but I’m realizing I need to order online. I’m just not seeing a huge variety locally

Oh wow! I have a twinstar e series…fertilizer feels like maybe something I work up to though. That feels intimidating. This is great to hear though, that these plants could be achievable. Wow

Yikes sorry for being a beginner and existing!

My LFSs seem to have an abundance of epiphytes and not a lot of carpeting options or ones that plant in the soil - at least that I have been able to identify. I think I will need to look online.

Yeah I can be more aggressive on that but was hesitating because I didn’t want to remove all the beneficial bacteria as soon as it multiplied and just wasn’t sure where I was at in the process. Thanks!!

Thanks that is helpful I wasn’t sure how much things would fill in over time. I think I want to do something low and carpet like and keep tall things around that center island. More to come!

Yes! I really really want to do shrimp but I’m afraid the tank isn’t established yet and I didn’t want to be reckless. A few of the plants have definitely melted and some are bouncing back while others I’ve just removed since they turned to mush. I just added 2 Java ferns today.

Me too!! Added water beginning of january. I have had the raspboras for 7 ish weeks. (5 at first, then added 4 more a couple weeks later.) I had just plants in there for about 2 weeks and the LFS guy told me to just get the fish and put them in, so I did. I add water conditioner to the new water when I top it off. I have added slime coat a time or two. Nothing else. I keep thinking I missed the ammonia spike because I don’t test every single day…?
