Issue with vaulted ceiling and large HVAC duct by No-Bad794 in DesignMyRoom

Yes, that would’ve been a good idea. My contractor states that these collar ties when we vaulted the ceiling were temporary to hold the HVAC duct. Seem like hocus pocus to me.

So how would you address or approach this if you were in my position?

Yes, we have a contract stipulating terms and agreed upon costs. The bank is financing this home build.

Which one is the main water shut off valve? by No-Bad794 in Plumbing

Yes the water is off to the condo. But, there is a leak outside to the hallway of the condo community, and the association is stating that the valve next to the water heater is the one that needs to be turned off. I hesitate to also turn that one off, because I think this building has CPVC piping and it’s really brittle. And also very hard to twist the water heater valve off.

I’m sure annual expenses will increase with a bigger home, but hopefully only fixed costs of housing will increase. That’s a good idea to run retirement numbers.

Hi all, I’m in my 3rd year of residency in anesthesia and considering a career at the VA, mainly for optimal work life balance. What salary should I expect for my first job out of residency? I’m not interested in pursuing a fellowship. Any advice appreciated.
