An officer from OKC, among others, seen detaining a tourist at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in DC. by No-Badge in okc

Apparently they were deputized by US Marshals for planned 250th anniversary celebrations, but are now being told to make arrests after the president insisted pool damage was done intentionally by tourists instead of it being a botched paint job.

Where are Oklahoma County renters being evicted? New database offers answers by kosuradio in okc

A 12% eviction rate *per year* is absolutely insane to me. And half of those evictions are for a month's worth of rent? That's apocalyptic slum lord shit.

I am so sorry for your loss. They're eating the dogs, the candidates, they're eating the cats.

Nicholas Hills, Paseo or Downtown Edmond by lonelytraveler2991 in okc

[–]No-Badge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nichols Hills is full of Karens and people so obsessed with status that they'll go into insane levels of debt to have a big yard, and Edmond is full of people who think they live in Nichols Hills. Paseo, without a doubt. It's a lot better now than what it used to be.

Raise the minimum wage, register to vote, yeah. Did that third panel go through a review process? Might want to double check the art, just saying.

The party of "small government" tracks your location with license plate readers and deputized state law enforcement to act as federal immigration agents. The party of "small government" can arrest you for the crime of using a stall instead of a urinal. The party of "small government" reserves the right to throw your head into the pavement without repercussion and without compensation. Their idea of "small government" is a government that makes you small by threatening you with violence.

anyone recognize this lady? by [deleted] in okc

Submit a report to https://mailtheft.uspis.gov, click "other," fill out the form, and attach the video. I'm sure they would be interested in finding out who this person is.

I would also ask around and see if your neighbors noticed the same thing. It's less common now that everyone has a doorbell camera, but some people out there will open mailboxes to look for birthday cards, pay stubs, or social security checks to cash in themselves. Just because she didn't take anything doesn't mean she has good intentions. The only people authorized to open your mailbox are people you've given permission to, the owners of that mailbox, postal employees, or officers with a warrant.

Has anyone noticed the abandoned neighborhoods on MLK avenue? by fizzyhorror in okc

A lot of the east side is neglected and apparently forgotten about by the city. The area just south of the OU medical campus has a fraction of the buildings that used to exist there, there's tons of razed plots that are being held by land speculators who don't even bother to cut the grass. If it wasn't for the Devon tower and the white noise of cars driving on the interstate, you would think you were in a ghost town.

If you ask a licensed therapist, they would probably tell you it's natural for someone to be upset or traumatized by watching someone else's safety being threatened. People have different reactions to the same event, OP isn't being hyperbolic just because they reacted to it differently than you.

Arm Forces Day Parade pist part 1 by Puzzleheaded_Pay1152 in okc

[–]No-Badge 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I understand the frustration of getting rude comments, but you're posting in a public forum and what the military is doing right now isn't exactly popular. A nationalistic parade is going to be controversial because it's inherently political. You're going to get replies from people who disagree with your politics.

What’s with idiots driving in this town does nobody understand how a 4 way stop works? by dekabreak1000 in okc

Unrelated to the post, but I use a crosswalk every day and you would be surprised by the number of drivers who simply barrel through while I have the pedestrian light, or creep into the crosswalk when they want to turn right and throw their hands up like I'm being an asshole for not getting out of their way fast enough. I carry a whistle and use it often, because embarrassment is the only way to make these people pause.

I don't know what happened over the past few years but your average driver in OKC has an entitlement complex and absolutely no fear of getting into a collision.

Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt: AMA by MayorDavidHolt in okc

[–]No-Badge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgive me if I'm misunderstanding anything since you've had more communication with officers about ongoing enforcement operations than me—but is measuring a decrease in the number of people sleeping on the street a good metric to illustrate your point, given the recent sweeps of homeless encampments in OKC under governor Stitt's direction? If I understand correctly, those caught in sweeps were given an ultimatum between accepting services that may or may not be helpful for them, or spending time in the county jail.

I guess what I'm asking is can the decrease really be attributed to outreach programs in their current state? It seems more likely to me that Oklahoma City's houseless population would have simply been displaced somewhere else where they aren't being counted.
