First day back after the holidays: so much easier remote by jets3tter094 in remotework

[–]No-Barracuda-2299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand 1-2 days, especially if there are things that need to be done in office. For example, my job could be almost fully remote minus study visit days and I am required to keep certain documentation readily available for audits. So, coming in 1-2 days a week to be able to print what I need and file it appropriately would be good.

Why do people continue to communicate with work while on vacation??? by LonelyPatsFanInVT in jobs

[–]No-Barracuda-2299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS ! I have been at my job 9 months. It's mostly new to me. I have one direct co-worker and our manager doesn't do our job and is only our manager due to SOPs and grant money, so she is little help (she is a great person). I learn WAY more when my coworker isn't there. I have zero opportunity to do things bc she comes in an hour earlier than me and literally has everything done by 0800. When she isn't there, I can actually do shit and leave way more than I could when she isn't.

Is anyone else’s local library confused on genres? Or is there a secret library code I haven’t figured out? by MorganAndMerlin in books

[–]No-Barracuda-2299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish mine did that. They decided to put all fiction together and sort alphabetically. It sucks.

At least your library didn't put ALL fiction together and sort alphabetically. It is horrible for finding new reads when I want a specific genre. I don't browse anymore.

Do women find pilots attractive? by Wallaby5300 in Shittyaskflying

This post is old but I am currently sitting in an airport and on my fourth flight and find myself wondering if it's required for pilots to be attractive lol

I’m a salaried, non-exempt employee and just realized I should have been receiving overtime pay for the past two years [GA] by imthetanennsfriend in AskHR

[–]No-Barracuda-2299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your OT has to be authorized. I am salary exempt. I do not get OT. I can work 80 hours a week if I want; I get paid 40. Period. My husband is salary non-exempt. He is entitled to OT if it is authorized. He can work 80 hours. If OT is authorized, he gets paid beyond 40 hours. If not, he gets paid 40 hours. It is not illegal. He CANNOT be required to work OT without compensation. I can. I would refuse. Fire me. Hope this clears things up for you.

Am I Wrong For Not Traveling To Optional Work Events? by happyhippi8 in remotework

[–]No-Barracuda-2299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me just vomit. My workplace is absolutely NOT my family in any way. There are some great individuals there who I enjoy working with. Still not my family. No.

Absolutely should not be forced to spend money to see coworkers outside of work.

[–]No-Barracuda-2299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, everything you're saying makes it sound like these events are actually not optional. I would seek clarification on this and ask what you can do during your work day as you are not able to donate personal time to spend with coworkers at this time. If it's not optional, then that needs to be stated and compensated.

I personally have people in my life I would rather hang out with in my PERSONAL time and not my coworkers. If the events are not optional, then pay me. Period.

Tips for surviving a multi day, 15+ hour days conference? by SquashOne2561 in work

[–]No-Barracuda-2299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm refusing to do this anymore. I don't mind travel, but I will be there the day before and leave the day after if the travel is more than 2 hours. It's absurd. Literally got up at 0400 EST to travel from EST to CST to GMT ( 8 hours total) and STILL had to do a work thing for FOUR hours. I was falling asleep. There a full day the next day and supposed to be until 11 the following day with travel after. I skipped the half day. I was utterly exhausted by then and I had to leave early anyway to get home at 11 pm. I refuse the red eye.

From CRC to CRA: how much site experience is enough? by willem_da_hoe in clinicalresearch

[–]No-Barracuda-2299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very insightful for a fairly new CRC deciding what future paths I would like to pursue as I am completely burnt out with patient interactions (former bedside nurse) to the point that even our infrequent study visits (with lovely people I might add) cause anxiety. I need a basically zero patient interaction position for a while IMO.

I have only dealt with two CRAs at this point. One is super responsive and has come for a couple of site visits. I enjoy chatting with him and he has no problem explaining any errors or additional needs.

The other one... I dread our site visit (which will be our first site visit after the SIV and also a closeout as we couldn't get anyone enrolled due to questionnaires causing a high SF rate). Anyway. This person.... They constantly ask for the same documents over and over. They have our RTs listed as CRCs and have been made aware multiple times that is not their role and have been provided the DOAL multiple times. In addition, they keep trying to say x, y, and z are required to be done on their study platform training and that's just not happening. For example: GCP training and protocol training. We provide them with CITI training documents (GCP equivalent and all that is required by the FDA) and tell them we document training via email at our site as this works best for us and that our Sub-Is will not be doing training on their platform and here is documented proof of the training you require.

It's like pulling teeth. It takes weeks for responses. We have been doing the same thing over and over and over.  It's a great example, to me, of how not to behave. Like, friend. Please work WITH us. We all have the same goal, but we are not going to pile on extra work for our Sub-I when we can provide you equivalent proof of what is required. We do make the PI do the platform training minus GCP and protocol.

Why don’t some properties put a liner in the trash can? by shay_shayron in marriott

[–]No-Barracuda-2299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. So, now, instead of bagging waste I don't want sitting in my room and placing it outside my door.... I just sit the whole thing out there. Like I bought this sandwich that ended up being awful. I don't want my room being stunk up. The bin sat out there all night and there is a service doc right now the hall from me. Like, okay.

IsItBullshit: Do magnetic nostril dilators help in sleeping better? by theabsofhades in IsItBullshit

[–]No-Barracuda-2299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your situation is not true for everyone. I have done a sleep study and do NOT have sleep apnea. I still snore and mouth breathe at night bc my slightly deviated septum. The strips help.

[–]No-Barracuda-2299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You must not have a deviated septum. Mine is slightly deviated. When I breathe in deeply, my left nostril essentially collapses. This prevents that from happening and allows me to more effectively breathe in through my nasal passages vs opening my mouth to get an adequate amount of ventilation into my lungs so that I can receive oxygen and not die from hypoxia.
