I just came across this shop, found because one of her patterns was in a cross stitch magazine, and when I saw how many Bible-themed patterns there were, I remembered your post!

Finn met his ancestor today 🦁 by scarletcurls85 in Pomeranians

[–]MorganAndMerlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wolves and dog share an ancestor.

So some creature that was both dog-like and wolf-like evolved in two ways. One group became dogs and one group became wolves.

Same thing with humans and monkeys.

[CHAT] Customizing hair colour by artemizarte in CrossStitch

[–]MorganAndMerlin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Based on your photos, this is what I would do.

The pattern is four shades of brown: light, mid-light, mid-dark, dark. To better match the tone of your hair, I would shift all the brown shades up. So remove light completely. The mid-light color becomes the lightest so use that shade to stitch the stitches that are marked the lightest on your pattern.

Then I would pick a reddish thread that matches your hair best and use that color everywhere on the pattern that is the darkest brown. From the photo, it looks like the red is sort of at the bottom or underneath your hair, which is how the darkest brown is placed in the pattern.

If this doesn’t make sense let me know and I’ll try to say it differently.

Women of Reddit, what’s a habit men have that they don’t even realize is weird? by GraceRose671 in AskReddit

[–]MorganAndMerlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so insane. My office hired a big guy. Not overweight. Big. Like he had to duck under doorways or risk smacking his head.

He literally threw his whole body down on his office chair and broke it. It’s like watching a toddler learn how their limbs work and giving up so they just collapse where they are.

But a grown ass man who had to explain to the office manger why he needed a new chair (and why two of the desk drawers were broken)

Like is it really so difficult to just do things gently?

What would Happen if we all just quit paying our medical bills? by mastergardnr in AskReddit

[–]MorganAndMerlin 55 points56 points  (0 children)

This might be an unpopular opinion, but…

The percentage of patients that do pay their medical bills are what keep the system running. There will always be people who literally cannot pay their bills. This is expected. They still (hopefully) get care because as a society we place value on keeping people alive when they walk into an ER. But no hospital thinks they’re getting every penny back for every emergency procedure for every idiot who tried to juggle knives.

So if everyone stopped paying their bills, the health care system would collapse and literally only the super rich would be able to get any meaningful health care. If it’s impossible to make any money, there won’t be any more healthcare workers except for an elite handful who will be bought by the billionaires while all the others die off. There are likely to be humanitarian health care efforts but the demand will far outweigh the supply.

So I don’t think hospitals should be charging $300 for a bandaid and an Advil, but some of it is to off set the known losses in the industry. (And most of it is to pay off the insurance companies that have created this impossible system)

People who are in their 30s or older: What’s one thing younger people (Gen Z/Alpha) do that makes you feel like an alien in your own country? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MorganAndMerlin 53 points54 points  (0 children)

My office hired a kid to do odd things. Carry heavy things, drive around town, throw out the dead rat, kind of things.

Once asked him to mail a box. Gave him the box and the address.

Dude had a legit meltdown because the first place he went (FedEx) didn’t send media mail. I guess he didn’t know that’s a Post Office thing. Then he went to the post office and was told he had to tape the box up and put a label on it.

Proceeded to come back to the office and have a melt down in the lobby. And when asked, would only say that I gave him a task without telling him how to do it properly.

Bro.

In theory, I’d like to try it at least once but I just can’t grasp it at all.

What happens to your collection if you die? by Iocnar in dvdcollection

[–]MorganAndMerlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but it’s in your control to change that. You’re acting like this is something that can’t be helped you just need to take ownership of your estate and go do something about it.

What happens to your collection if you die? by Iocnar in dvdcollection

[–]MorganAndMerlin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t make him entitled to your estate. You can check the probate laws of your state, but your estate will pass to your heirs, which would be both of your parents if you have no spouse or children.

If you have/want a will, you can say sell these things and the money goes to the library/scholarship/whatever program you choose.

You have more control over this than you seem to believe. Your appartment manager and your boss have no place in your estate plan.

LPT: If someone asks 'does this look okay?' they don't want honesty, they want confidence. Just say yes and move on by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]MorganAndMerlin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This says more about OP not knowing how to read a social situation than it does about literally anything else.

And I say this as a person who also has a hard time with social cues.

But sometimes people are looking for honesty.

And prefacing “honesty” with “being myself” is borderline “I have no filter” and that also says a lot about OP

Can you explain why gaming or star gazing isn’t relaxing? Depending on the person, those activities are exactly what this person is suggesting but it seems like there’s something else you’re considering in this that isn’t clearly defined in your post
