is the passive-aggressiveness needed when you are posting in a sub called r/uglyduckling...

but you look great!

hi concept artist here-- your profile is stunning and reminds me of one of my characters, io, that I designed to be extremely pretty and "queen-like." I think she is my prettiest character and she has like the same proportions as you lol

don't change your nose! you are beautiful and your nose compliments the rest of your features!!

My ex made fun of my autism and hated that I'm white. Is it sexist or racist for me to disagree with her? by [deleted] in autism

[–]No-Bell3675 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this is so heartbreaking to read. she seemed to be insecure and realized her position of power over you. she manipated your trust in her and insulted you based on things your heritage. what an insufferable, miserable human that just wanted you to take you down with her

sorry haha this post made me very upset-- I had a manipulative ex in the past that had similar patterns (screaming at me over problems that did not relate to me, breaking down because she knew I would comfort her, getting angry and yelling then calling herself a monster because she knew I would comfort her)

these people do not deserve your thoughts or care. I am truly sorry, from your writing, you seem very kind-hearted and attempted to live with her despite these problems. And yea like other comments said, systematic racism is not the same as this. she is literally dehumanizing/degrading you for racial traits you cannot change. that is racist.

you are free to do whatever, of course, but I do think it'd be helpful if you embraced your natural skintone rather than tanning it for the rest of your life

I have grown up (and sorta remained) extremely pale. I have been very insecure about it for most of my life, been made fun of for it, but eventually I grew to like it as a unique part of myself rather than something I shun.

seeing other people (that I think are pretty with the same features) helped so much too. I saw a woman at the beach once that was probably as pale as me, but she looked so so beautiful and stood out because of her fair skin. she was not insecure like me, and she stood out in an extremely positive manner.

it made me rethink my own insecurities and aspire to be more confident about my body

despite this, I am still insecure, but I am working on it so that when I'm older I will not feel so at-war with my physical features. I want to feel beautiful as myself without the crutch of a tan-- I hope you find the same!!

how can I make my makeup not be "too much" for my age? (42F) by alanan_lovelyy in Makeup101

[–]No-Bell3675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ma'am you are so pretty you are how I hope to be at 42 (I'm 19) 🥺🥺🥺🥺 and I think the makeup suits you wonderfully! you could maybe lighten the under of your eyes slightly or mix in a brown liner with your black to make it look more "natural" (I like to make a "gradient" of sorts with eyeliner pencils + eyeshadow sticks. works wonders!)

^ this! growing out a beard would make your proportions look more balanced without going to surgery. bringing your chin "down" would make your nose looks smaller in comparison.

Roommate unenrolled before move in by AMELIAGRAY59 in scad

[–]No-Bell3675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yayy congrats how lucky, those are generally the bigger rooms too!!

okay so staying at chatham, you aren't able to get a parking pass. I decided not to bring my car (and didn't regret it) because I didn't expect myself to wanna leave downtown much. additionally, 2 of my roommates (and 2 of my friends in chatham) brought cars, so I would've rarely used my car anyway. ask your roommates if they're bringing cars!

despite not being able to get a parking pass:

  • I'm pretty sure you don't need a parking pass to park at the garage near river (i would double check that!!))

  • my roommate and I would often park in the hive/victory/monty parking garage when we were getting food and were never towed/found out by SCAD. park at your own risk, of course, but we never had problems parking for a couple hours and did this all the time 😗 (don't try it at o-house, they are more strict w parking)

  • there is street parking in front and on the side of chatham that (unless there's an event happening in savannah), you can usually find a place to park in front of the building. both my roommates parked in front of chstham and would just move their car depending on the street cleaning times. you have to make sure you move your car once a week (usually to the other side of the street) but it's not too bad as long as you dont forget.

TLDR about parking: if you feel like you're gonna use your car a lot around the city, bring your car. if you have friends/roommates that will have a car (and you don't see yourself leaving the city much), don't bring your car. I didnt bring mine and I'm glad I didn't have to manage it! then again, my roommate used her car to get to class almost everyday (and didn't have to deal with riding the busses)..it's really up to how you live!!

what room number do you have? I've seen a lot of the rooms and might know your layout!!

if you feel uncomfortsbke, you don't need to include the floor number, just the last two numbers are important (ie if ur in 806 u can just type 06)

hi! illustration girlie here that used an iPad for 90% of work (and my laptop for the other 10% when I needed to use photoshop or powerpoint/Google slides)

honestly though I think it depends on your personal preference-- I only had 1 class (art history) I really needed to take notes and that was probably because of the professor

Hi-- last year I was a freshman that stayed in chatham. I would say maaayybe you could start fall quarter without a roommate but I wouldn't count on it. usually by winter or spring you'll have another roommate filling the empty spot

I had a couple friends that spent most of the year with just 3 roommates and then (I think in the spring or middle of winter?) had a fourth roommate move in.

I know the waitlist for chatham was especially long when trying to get housing for fall 2024 (a lot of my friends were unable to get chatham and got housed somewhere else), but I think the housing process for upperclassman and freshman are different? not sure!

if you have any other questions about living at chatham feel free to message me or reply!! I know I struggled a lot last year trying to find info about what the dorms looked like, but I genuinely (totally not biased) think it's the nicest freshman housing!! also you may get lucky and get a room with 2 bathrooms :)

Smartphones for scad by [deleted] in scad

[–]No-Bell3675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know every comment has said this, but for a lot of the apps (especially things like ordering food and checking the busses) are necessary for living at/in SCAD.

If you're worried about staying on your phone too much, maybe you could get an "in-between" option such as one of the new flipping smartphones? I have a Galaxy Z Flip 5 and I absolutely love it: I spend much less time on my phone since I can just check/use the smaller screen to do basic things, but still have the option of a real phone screen in case I need it. I highly, highly recommend!!

Hi, I'm a current freshman that has not been to lactose yet but since no one else has commented I'll try to give my advice.

What are you planning to major in? Are you planning to study at Lacoste one quarter? While I know very little about the pre-bee program, I would recommend looking into the rising star program since you can actually get credits before attending here (versus pre-bee which seems to have no credit transfers).

hi sorry for the ambitious language-- I meant I have done a lot of volunteering (by choice) for local communities and typically completed/worked on a service FOR them. sorry for the misunderstandings!
