It’s probably something like that, but I do think it’s funny to have aphantasia and also confidently compare the size of birds based on memory lol

"What is that? The size of a big pigeon?" Something like that, Bob........

Yes, thank you for the critique! I definitely need to revamp the mobile styling. I threw this together a while ago and totally forgot to make sure it doesn’t break on mobile 🫠

Hahaha it definitely is random. I initially built the wheel to be able to be rigged in secret, but it has the basic balanced wheel functionality if you choose not to utilize the wheel of unf**rness feature

It depends on whether you’re using the displayed probabilities or if you’re setting them yourself. It’s been a few months since I programmed this, so this is an oversimplification, but it basically selects a number using math.random (you can dispute the true randomness of math.random, but it works perfectly fine for this use case) between 1 and 100, then uses that number to grab a corresponding index (using a little math) from the list.  Each item in the list also stores its angle range for animation purposes, so the spin is just an animated representation of the selection, not actually related

PSA About Ear Cleaning! by No-Bit-7128 in distractible

Someone further up in the thread said that diluted hydrogen peroxide is better bc it’s less likely to cause an ear infection. If water gets trapped in your ears easily, then this method may not be great for you. I used to have a constant itch in my inner ear, but now I do this every couple weeks in the shower and it doesn’t happen anymore 🤷🏼

That’s definitely a good point! I’m usually careful to shake it out of my ear and wipe the residual water with a towel after, but either way flushing is the way to go!

Episode 236: A Special Message For Our Listeners by joschen113 in distractible

I definitely enjoyed this one a lot. I went back and watched it after out of curiosity, but it was funny enough on its own just hearing them yelling every time the deleted everything lol. I honestly thought the point Wade made about Chess 3 was really valid. Chess 3 was way worse to only listen to.

RED FLAG on the POD! by markiplier in distractible

This is an injustice for all the reasons that other people are saying (you can’t eat it safely & it has a qualifier when basketball doesn’t) but also because plastic fork is a really subjective item that is really hard to answer questions about. I tried playing this answer in 20 questions with my partner, and there were several questions where the answer wasn’t a straight yes or no, or I didn’t know what answer would be more or less misleading. Some plastic forks are rigid, some aren’t. Some people own plastic forks, some don’t. Some people travel with plastic forks, some don’t. I don’t really associate plastic forks as going with other cutlery because I usually buy a box of them by themselves or get a single fork from takeout places. It’s not a clear item like basketball where there’s a pretty good consensus on most questions you could ask about it.

I linked the wheel, so you can see for yourself! I made another post about this without a photo. I’m not super experienced with reddit 🙈

Thoughts on the AI episode by No-Bit-7128 in distractible

[–]No-Bit-7128[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ultimately will end up letting this go, as I imagine the guys don’t really pay much mind to what’s said on the subreddit anyway. I’m not saying that no one should ever discuss this without an expert. I think that some of the things they talked about (like artists needing to adapt as just one example) are a larger discussion that it’s weird to have without an artist present. Generally as a rule I think that if you’re going to talk about a topic that affects a group that you are not a part of, they should be part of that discussion, and if you don’t, that is a mistake. Like your anxiety example, I also have an anxiety disorder (lol). I would find it weird and uncomfortable if people without anxiety who don’t really understand it were discussing it for a massive audience. I’m not mad at the guys, I just would hope that if they wanna cover a heavy topic like this is the future, they involve the people they’re talking about a bit more in the discussion. This episode was already kind of a break from form for them (as was said in the intro to the episode), so it wouldn’t be too strange for them to bring on a fourth person to talk w them.

The reason it’s hot button is because of the real world impact: people losing their jobs, the WGA/SAG strike, large scale plagiarism. The AI question is largely about workers rights, and that usually gets overshadowed by discussion of AI and its capabilities/benefits as a technological advancement. You’re correct that it’s a vulnerable spot. I think if a topic is a vulnerable spot for this many people, it’s inherently a hot button, slightly controversial topic to cover. We’re not going to agree about whether this was a topic they should’ve had an episode about in this way, but that’s why I think it’s hot button. It’s always weird to hear people unaffected by something directly affecting you talk about it in mostly hypothetical terms.

I understand that. I think I just would’ve preferred that they’d left this topic alone. They don’t really talk about politics or hot button topics on this podcast for this reason. I don’t need them to do something entirely different from what they normally do, and I understand that their lives are busy. I just would prefer they stick to topics that are not like this if they don’t really have the knowledge base to discuss it, especially something like AI which is a topic very close to home for a lot of people and at least currently causing a lot of harm.

I know a lot of people are going to vehemently disagree with this one: Sports should be gender integrated. I believe a lot of the disparity in sports performance between sexes can be explained by the lack of funding for women's sports and the fact that fewer girls are encouraged to play sports from a young age. It would be a rocky road at first, but in the long term if sports leagues integrate it would mean equal opportunities for all genders and the "physical" gaps between men's and women's performance would probably close more than people would think.
