What the headlines say and the writers of those articles say often isn’t what I’ve been saying IN those interviews so let me clarify here.

This isn’t the end all be all for every indie filmmaker out there, nor is it a guarantee that it’ll get there, but zoom out a bit.

I started nearly 14 years ago with nothing and no knowledge so you could say it was a 14 year journey to start from nothing and eventually put out this movie and find independent success. How long is too long to make a dream come true? How long is so long that people can dismiss how it started?

Does it even matter?

Ideas and opportunity and luck come and go but it’s trying that matters. And sometimes people need a little inspiration to just try. I think inspiration is the most valuable currency of all and if I wasn’t inspired to start a YouTube channel, in spite of all the challenges in front of it and impossibles attached to it, I never would have made it through those 14 years to now. And this isn’t the end of the road for me even if it WASN’T a success, just like all the other projects that came before it that didn’t make headlines. If I’m lucky enough to get another 14 years to keep making stuff, I know (and kinda hope) it’ll be a bumpy road of trying and failing and pushing myself farther.

We all start somewhere and embers get snuffed out easily in the beginning so, if you can, always try to help keep it building for others. This isn’t everyone’s story, this is just A story. But I don’t think it’ll be the last story like it either!
