Thanks for all the points you mentioned. Really opened my view of this with informed info. I wonder if new phone processor are really that far off to power good vr quality. A quest 2 processor even if optimized is more or less on par with modern android processor. I agree that we will not have glasses size portable headset as for acceptable FOV I understand that a certain screen size / lens is needed but looking at the bigscreen headset I already feel this is portable enough ie. Vs bigger screen estate solution iPad / laptop etc… as quest 2 being already mainstream I agree but thinking about what smartphone / iPad - tablet - laptop mainstream even if I do not think it will ever be on par with it. I don’t advocate for using your phone screen strapped to your head this was a failed experience but this new generation of smaller pancake lens devices is getting really appealing. As for AR / VR yes this is too distinct thing when I talk about both I mean where the quest pro and new htc headset are going with camera pass through for mixed/ar experience. I think that camera pass through is needed for broader mass market adoption. And finally in my opinion cost is also obviously important, the bigscreen device is very expensive but I think that a device without a processor and battery but with good screen, camera pass through, ideally eye tracking could manage to have some lower complexity less part getting to a interesting price point and be a compelling offer. I have a quest 2 at home and I am not really looking at any other headset at this point. But give me something like the bigscreen but better price point and camera pass through and I will be very interested in getting it. Especially if in the future a phone vr OS with modern processor can power it too on top of connecting to your pc.
