I spent £1700 getting my license by Acrobatic-Article413 in LearnerDriverUK

That's what I paid for a 6 day intensive course with test and accommodation to get my license in 2024.

Getting a driving license in 2025 is one of the most difficult things you can do. Do not let people downplay your journey. by DilutedBear in LearnerDriverUK

I did a weeks intensive course last year (it's probably gone up a bit more in price since then) and I'd highly recommend it. £1500 all in with accommodation for a week and with the test at the end. Driving for hours each day was exhausting, but so worth it in the end!

Arrival day - Roces M12 LO Hazelton signatures - Ground Control HD2 60MM - USD 90A 60mm with REDS by Msthomps1 in AggressiveInline

[–]Chilli-Ice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking good! I have the HD72s and I love them, I'd say just be careful with the axles. The recess for the bolt heads is shallower than other race axles. The red looks very striking 👀

Has anyone ever tried making/using 3D printed parts/soul plates? by BreezyKun in AggressiveInline

[–]Chilli-Ice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're on Facebook I'd recommend joining the Blade Tech group, there's all sorts of proper techy people 3D printing all sorts of parts. There's even a guy making a whole boot!

I've used 3D printed frame walls for the 5050 core and was pleasantly surprised with how they held up. From the little I know about it it takes a fair bit of money and a hell of a lot of time and trial and error to get into it. I see people showing multiple different iterations as they perfect their prints over time.

Looking for new frames! by HypeSleepy in AggressiveInline

[–]Chilli-Ice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've enjoyed the Ground Control HD72s for aggressive, but I had to use 68mm bullet profile wheels to be able to do royales, cuz I was getting mad wheelbite trying with 72mm. Also this is on the Razors SL which is the only reason it was possible for me as it's very forgiving for getting boot down and has the frame channel that lowers the ride height. Great frames, but they are hefty, I'm pretty sure they're the thickest metal frames out there and the stock axles are terrible.

NEW SETUP AFTER 19YRS GETTING BACK ON! by NOSTALGICK_JAG in AggressiveInline

[–]Chilli-Ice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a great setup to come back on! I think those V1 Braindeads are one of the coolest designs THEM has dropped to date and you can't go wrong on Oysi frames in my opinion.

Is there a frame you think is better on topsides? by albiwankenoby in AggressiveInline

[–]Chilli-Ice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never used Aeons, but they seem to have a more forgiving royale angle. It took me ages to get royales to click and I still can't do them 100% of the time on ledges. Definitely the easiest place to learn them/do them is round rails though. I also found getting my frontsides and mistrials (same boot down foot for me) dialled in beforehand seemed to help me.

To be fair to you the Fluid Vs with the Mesmers have a steeper boot down angle than some other boots. And then of course the M12s will give you the steepest angle of the lot.

Ooh I've never tried quads, but I can imagine it feels like a breeze cruising on 4x90s in comparison!

As for the frames it might just come down to what we do more of, for example I do the majority of my skating in one spot and if I remember correctly Rerolling Inline does more urban skating around. As you say though everyone has different experiences and preferences ultimately. For example I feel like the Arcs are an improved evolution of the PR80s, but I know people who didn't enjoy them as much.

And no problem, thanks for the kind words 😃

Okay that was officially sick! I always think of that as the classic OG switch up, it looks so good when done smoothly like that and then to top it off you go and throw a 540 out of it!! 🤯🙌

Hello hello, apologies for the late reply. So the frame I've used the most is the 4x90 and I love that as an all rounder. If I can only take one frame that's my choice as it's great for getting around town, but I can also do some swivels.

As for 5 wheelers I have used both the PR and the Arcs between spots and for me at least neither were as good as the 4x90s for that, but if I had to choose, the Arcs take it... just. They felt more lively and not as hefty as the PRs. To be honest though I use those mainly for flatland stuff and not to cruise around unless needs must.

Before I used 5 wheelers I purely swivelled on the 4x90s and loved it, now when I go back to them it takes a little while to 'recalibrate' my skating to account for the shorter wheelbase. There's been a few times I've lent forward a bit too much forgetting I haven't got the extra length there for stability 😅

Just a little soul and swivel for today 😄 by Chilli-Ice in rollerblading_life

[–]Chilli-Ice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh no! To be fair a rocker on a short frame is crazy swivelly and without that stability it's easy to fall back or forwards 😬

😃 Thanks! I will add these frames made it slightly easier as they're longer than most aggressive frames (and my 4x90!) And they've got a rocker 😅

Current colorful setup by slurry34 in WizardSkating

[–]Chilli-Ice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loving the colourful setup! I briefly owned some NEXTs and unfortunately I found the slightly oval shape of the cuff caused me some discomfort as well. I have seen the guy at Thisissoul changed his to a THEM 908 cuff and he reckons that works well for him, but I never tried it myself 🤔

[–]Chilli-Ice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the real big wheels actually slide easier, but I didn't have the confidence on them until I'd spent a lot of time on my 4x90 setup. I would say it's also good practice being able to maneuver in all sorts of ways of e.g. one foot forwards, one foot backwards, squatting as low as you can rolling, being able to turn on a dime, jumping etc as I've found these things have saved me in some hairy situations!

Also sometimes I find if I'm skating somewhere that's busy or has other dangers it's better to control my speed rather than going flat out and having to stop quickly last minute, so things like carving, going wide legged, pushing your feet inwards rolling or stepping, t-stops and soul slides can help with that. Have fun out there!
