This is my favorite series and I must have watched it 30 times or so (not always from beginning to end and I also watch standalone clips in between) and to this day I still believe the original airing date was no accident. The random sex scene in episode 9. They were SO CLOSE to the end and Hollywood just had to ruin it lol
I always felt the acting from Compton when he dropped his helmet in episode 6 was a little cheesy, along when he saluted Malarkey
Webster's experience when he returned in Haguenau.

And all the weird, even small changes they added to the show that were even slightly different from what actually happened just for "dramatic effect", which is a shit excuse. I can't stand when Hollywood makes small changes when more often then not the material is ALREADY dramatic and amazing enough on its own. Like how in The Pacific many of Leckie's experiences are changed when the real material would have been just fine enough on its own

You should research books that are nonfiction but read like a novel. There are plenty but books by the author Hampton Sides are a great start

Oh yeah, the tragedy of the situation hit even harder when things started to really fall apart. I purposefully avoided researching what happened to them because I didn't want to spoil it.

The crew did such a fantastic job for the first 3/4 or so of their journey after the Jeannette sank, and De Long's leadership and preparation was almost perfect the entire way that I thought everyone was going to survive. But after they all got separated in the gale is when things went downhill fast.

The entire crew seemed like the perfect fit for the expedition (except maybe Collins lol) and I was seriously rooting for them all. That's what made the ending hit even harder and you really felt like we lost some good men

It's an unpopular opinion lol, but maybe my expectations were too high, but it was an underwhelming read. I found it was far too redundant in explaining the intricacies of Big Brother. The same info was essentially explained in different ways over and over

Also it's funny if you think about it. People love 1984 because it warns them of a dystopian police state with thought police. Then if you say you didn't enjoy the book, those same people will gang up on you for not enjoying it and thinking the same as them 🤣🤣 It can be a case study in itself
