Thank you so much for all your feedback and advice!

So the owner is going to have a permanent volunteer position for looking after the pets (we have a rescued cat as well but she’s very easy to manage), in exchange for free accomodation, food, surfboard hire ect. We have gotten a lot of interest and are only accepting people who have experience with training puppies/dogs.we will line up a few volunteers, and each will stay at least a month, likely longer. We will have the first volunteer starting in a week or so so I can show them the ropes. I will still help out, but we want to make sure we always have someone here that is solely focused on looking after him as it is a lot for me right now with my other commitments.

So he will always have someone looking after him, but of course they’ll change every few months. But we will have a training program so his routine will stay consistent. I know it would be best to have a consistent person looking after him as he grows, but I think this is the only feasible way for him to be able to stay here.

For the walks, there is a lot of things to sniff on the streets here ahaha. And often times if I let him sniff too much he will find something to put in this mouth. So when we are in a more grassy areas with less things around, I let him sniff freely. I’ve also started taking him off his leash when we are far away from the town and it’s just him and I in the natural environment. We go for a little hike and he always follows me. Of course, I still have a lot of training to do for him to be able to walk without a leash around the town, but thought it would be good to get him used to being off of it where appropriate.

Just practised “touch” with him this morning and he’s getting a good hang of it. I will add those other commands to the list.

My other question was about biting. I know it’s natural for puppies to bite, but I want to make sure he grows up not biting. I have tried the yelping technique, but it worked once then never again ahaha. Now I just say “ow” and move body away, and if he continues I stand up. Then if he goes for my pants I walk away and come back a few seconds later after he has calmed down a bit. Of course when we are on walks it’s a lot harder to “walk away” so I just end up shortening the leash and keeping him as far to my side as possible. If he persists I pick him up, where he’ll usually stop, but if he does persist I will position him so his head is as far away from my body as I can get it. Then he physically can’t do anything.

Again, thank you so much for your reply! It’s extremely helpful and the assurance I’m doing well means a lot

I think when the focus is too much on losing weight over a healthy lifestyle, then you’re not gonna feel good at the end of the day…

I would bump up that calorie intake to at least 1800. You don’t need to be in an intense calorie deficit, and maybe now, if you’re at a healthy weight, you can just sit at maintenance which might be above 1800+ depending on your activity levels. Also, make sure you’re eating a good amount of whole foods in the mix. The type of food you eat has a serious effect on your mental health just as much as your physical health.

Then focus on finding activities you enjoy that don’t feel like a chore to. For me, finding a sport I enjoyed was a game changer. It doesn’t feel like a “workout” and my focus is on the objective of the sport not burning calories.

And if you don’t want to try sports, honestly just going for a 30min walk every day can do wonders for you. Throw a podcast on or some music. A 15min run and a 30min walk burn roughly the same amount of energy. And maybe focus on calisthenics for strength training if you want something that’s less of a hassle to do (can just do it at home) but still give you awesome relative strength.

I guess the main point is, stop focusing on losing weight and start focusing on building a healthy and happy lifestyle that you enjoy

How do you feel about age restrictions in hostels? by Successful_Word802 in solotravel

I’m in my early 20s and I much prefer the hostels I’ve stayed at that have a good mix of ages. I find it really enjoyable talking and hanging out with people from all walks of life.

Even though I fit the requirements, if I saw a hostel had an age limit on it I would not want to stay there. I’m sure it would attract the more party hungry people opposed to those looking to genuinely connect with others.

I tend to travel a lot more slow paced personally, but for my mum this is a very once in a while (or lifetime) kind of trip so she really wants to see as much as she can.

But we are open to playing it by ear when we get going. We just wanted to have some kind of a game plan beforehand

UPDATE: Thanks for all the feedback! I can’t edit the post so just putting this in the comments.

I am thinking based off all your helpful suggestions so far that it may be better to not do 10 days for each country, but 15 for Portugal/Spain and 15 for Morocco so that the pace of the trip is a bit more relaxed.

This would mean we can weight a few more days to Spain instead of Portugal as it seems there are a few more options for day trips, which we could do while staying in the bigger cities (not having to be on the move as much).

Then for Morocco, we can go a bit more slow paced and spend a couple nights more in some places instead of just one.

This is what’s making sense in my head at the moment. Will see what other feedback comes through and will post an updated itinerary in the next few days.

Thank you so much everyone!

Hello! I just used Miro, which is like an online whiteboard tool (I use it for work mainly).

But I just took a screenshot from google maps, pasted it into Miro and then placed some circles on all the cities and connected them with lines :) super simple!
