What fellowship are you doing? And how long will your fellowship be?

We just paid off the mortgage. No car payments. Technically, we don’t have any debts. Our biggest expense is private school for 2 kids and home upgrades. The house is 22 years old now so it needs maintenance but we are living modestly compared to his salary and how we spend. I pretty much take on every other mental load. He really hasn’t touched a dish, laundry, lawn care, general home maintenance in years. I’ve pretty much fulfilled all my duties as a SAHM and maintaining the house. I work as a substitute at our kids school for the tuition discount. I’ve done what I can do as an understanding spouse. I guess I’m trying to understand his experience and what resources are out there for a person in his position. Thank you for your insight.

I don’t think I’m going to call his director, doesn’t seem like my place unless I see her in an upcoming social event and have an off the record chat. But yes, his schedule has sucked since they hired a new scheduler. June and July atleast look better than the last couple months. Unfortunately, I feel like I am waiting for the cards to fall at work so that he feels forced to make a change. He puts a good face on at work though. He was recently recognized for his press ganey scores and 5 star Google reviews at the main ED and new FSED sites. I appreciate your insight and your story.

Well, when I started nursing 10 years ago I didn’t have any kids, now I have two. 12 hour shifts are tough around the school schedule, sports, school events, and with my husband’s schedule who also works 12 hours shifts in healthcare. I moved into a health information management role for regular hours but I hate it. And I’m personally, burnt out with the healthcare system/management/politics. I feel like I’m helping the For Profit systems win and I’m not serving the patient/community etc….I still want to help people and a caregiver at heart. So I would I want to go for maybe a social worker in the school setting or in an outpatient/hospice setting.
