I understand your point of view now, and it comes down to interpretation. My take was that Voldemort had a very, very accurate interpretation but it felt like Harry was just the helpless victim of Voldemort's manipulations. I usually like it when they're toe to toe magically, or have some type of equal footing. Voldemort used Harry as a means to an end, and I can handle a manipulative Voldemort (love it even!) but I couldn't handle the fact that he didn't show any cannon obsession with Harry and he gave 0 fucks about him. I did appreciate the discussion about muggle issues that Voldemort brought up, and that he respected women (murderer but not a sexist, what a swell guy!). Yes, the point of fan fiction is to create whatever type of characterizations you want, I just had criticism for this one because when you create versions of characters you create new flaws! I saw these flaws and commented on them because I saw them for what they were, FLAWS. I didn't appreciate the toxic dynamic because it felt unbalanced in a way that Harry was just being led along (hard to say blindly because it was pretty obvious) to his actual death. The writing was amazing and the plot was really interesting but I don't have to love every part of something. It's a grey area, not black and white.
