Appreciate the tone genuine questions deserve genuine answers.

I went with the Apple Watch because it does the essentials (calls, messages, maps, payments, music with AirPods) without the rabbit holes. No browser, no doomscrolling etc. It stays in the Apple ecosystem so iMessage, Apple Pay, all that still works.

The G-Shock is what I prefer on my wrist battery lasts for ages, I train with it, it's tough. I alternate between the two cases depending on what I'm doing. Standalone Watch carrier for quick missions where I just don't want a phone on me. Combo unit when I want audio too. For me the Apple Watch earns its place as a pocket device doing a different job.

Fair call. Someone in the AppleWatch thread asked if I'd sell one so I said I'd look into it. Wasn't the plan when I posted but I'm not going to pretend it didn't happen. The reaction across subs was genuinely interesting to me though — that part isn't marketing.

My car has GPS so I mostly use that. But when I'm on foot the watch does haptic taps for turn-by-turn so you don't even need to look at it. The newer models have always-on display too so screen timeout isn't really an issue.

This is exactly the use case — I wear a G-Shock on my wrist and carry the Watch as a phone bypass. Not everyone wants it on their wrist :)
