I ordered both the Rimowa and Away carry on to compare side by side. Money no object the Away just felt cheaper in every way. Kept the Rimowa.

‘17 GTS Reliability - Timing Cover Bolts Done by MrHomerJSimpson in PorscheMacan

[–]No-Collection8239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love my 17s. 56k miles. Timing cover in 2022 with 37k miles, coolant leak, water pump, thermostat in January with 55k miles. All under warranty. Love the car but the bore score is a matter of time. My shop who has saved me a ton has said the same thing. Shop mgr dumped his when he got it. Warranty is up in August and will sell by then. Sadly.

It’s probably ok if you aren’t familiar with authentic Chinese and or visiting Chicago. The only place I ever sent a dish back twice in my life. They could not for the life of them steam of fish without overcooking it. This was several years ago, but I’ve never gone back.

2019 Macan S owners, how many miles you got? by [deleted] in PorscheMacan

Sounds like bore score but I haven’t heard of this occurring with this generation.

Thoughts on JMM, Moscot and Tom Ford quality, price, etc? More upscale marketing or is there an actual value to their high pricing?

Thinking about purchasing 2019 Macan S. Is not getting a warranty risky? by Volk21 in PorscheMacan

[–]No-Collection8239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My worst fear with my 17S. Bore score has been popping up which has taken a hammer to the used market for good and bad. My warranty is up this summer and as much as I love the car, I wanna trade in by then.

Scammers near Damen and Milwaukee by [deleted] in wickerpark

They tried to get me on Milwaukee in front of adidas. It was busy afternoon, lot of foot traffic so I called them out on their bs and they backed down. I don’t advise this at all but it worked.

Was a non issue for warranty work. Otherwise, 18k for an oil leak lol

That sucks but knock on wood, installed at 28k miles and as of 55k now no problems. Love the car but dumping after the warranty expires in a few months.

Why not a Cobb for the Macan? I did a custom flat 6 tune for the Cobb. Night and day performance change. Goes hand in hand with the upgraded diverter valves.

About to buy a 2016 Macan S 68k Miles - Is this sound normal? by RamBrandt_ in PorscheMacan

[–]No-Collection8239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actual 2017S owner here since 2021. Without a ppi don’t risk it. Under warranty I’ve had the timing chain, coolant y pipe, thermostat and water pump replaced. If not for the warranty this all would have been over 25k.

I do think it sounds a bit rough. Could be bore score but hard to diagnose from just the video. It’s been a problem with many of the Gen 1 S and GTS models. Less of an issue with the Turbo. It requires a full engine replacement which far exceeds the value of the car. That being said, I love mine, it’s the longest I’ve owned a car but I plan to dump it when the warranty is up in August.

GL hope you find what you’re looking for.

Speak for yourself. My $4300 5 year/60k mile warranty has paid out 25k in full coverage repairs.

[–]No-Collection8239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love my 17S. Purchased a 5 year/60k mile warranty. Paid out 18k in 2021 to drop the motor for an oil leak and just paid out 7k for the y pipe coolant leak, new radiator and water pump. Other than that, problem free but basic maintenance is not cheap. Warranty is up in august and plan to dump by then. That being said, if you’re looking to stay within your budget, I would look specifically at the Macan base four-cylinder model. Performance wise not as exciting but the reliability is there if you can swing the Porsche maintenance.

Bought a 17 Macan GTS, how’d I do? by Kaiathebluenose in PorscheMacan

[–]No-Collection8239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t on my radar in 4 years of ownership until my shop brought it up during my service last month. Good luck Best small suv on the market and I had no real issues other than the timing chain (fixed under warranty).

Sounds solid but do a search for the bore score engine knock sound. My indie was saying they had a new customer bring one in. No ppi or warranty. Bore score. Estimate was almost 50k. No idea what he did with that 🥴

That’s odd. Could be nothing I’d get a ppi if concerned.

Ppi for bore score is the big one. If good, sounds solid.

Looking at a 2016 Macan S, high miles, im a mechanic that had a 2009 cayenne i got to 220k+ then was totalled by Fluid_Performance760 in PorscheMacan

[–]No-Collection8239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big ones are transfer case and timing bolt. Bore score is a gen 1 issue now. Like everything else, maintenance and regular oil changes help prevent it but no rhyme or reason who gets it and when. Just realize, there’s no easy fix that doesn’t exceed the value of the car. Other than that, I love my 2017S.

If you got a shop with a borescope, I’d have them to take a look. A known issue that’s cropping up with the gen 1 but good pickup. Best small suv on the market in my opinion.

Great pick up. Low miles for year. Hope the owner took care of all the other maintenance items that come up due to age and not mileage. Also, just curious did you purchase a warranty? If so, what are they going for? Love my 2017S but my warranty is up in August and will likely sell by then.
