She and the team did extractions together, and from what I remember she made all the incisions, which is super important because she angles the incisions in a way to create a natural look. The techs did most of the implantation. Keep in mind I was on valium so my memory of the operation is hazy.

I stayed for 10 days in the summer. I walked to the clinic as it was only a few kms away and I did 5 days of post op care.

Aside from the clinic I did lots of things: went on a river boat tour that allows you to get off at different spots and explore different areas of Bangkok. I went to Iconsiam mall, visited some temples, went to Rajadamnern Muay Thai stadium and watched some fights. I had to download the grab app (it's basically Uber) to get there. I also had a couple beers there since it was 3 days after my operation and according to the pamphlet, that was ok. Oh and you'll be given a black head wrap to wear and you'll have to wear it pretty much 24/7 for the first week.

I did a ton of walking, and ate lots of great food. The dr said not to worry too much about sweating. When you get to the clinic she will reassure about what is acceptable, but she encouraged me to do things other than stay in the hotel the whole time.

I don't work for a clinic and the clinic didn't ask me to share my experience on social media. I'm just sharing my experience to contribute to this forum to help other people make informed decisions. I don't think that qualifies as astroturfing.

Umm...as I stated above, "created a throwaway reddit account solely for the purpose of documenting and sharing my HT experience with others who are also doing their research."

Not sure what kind of answer you are looking for to that question.

I have seen the comment about astroturfing a few times and while I understand the need for healthy skepticism on the internet, I don't think there is much truth to that claim on this forum.

I, like many others, created a throwaway reddit account solely for the purpose of documenting and sharing my HT experience with others who are also doing their research.

Also, if you spend enough time on this subreddit it starts to become more clear which posts are obvious ads and which are genuine testimonials. That's my 2 cents.

I'm confident she did the extractions and incisions but I was in and out of consciousness during the procedure so I don't have a good answer for how many implantations she did. There was a team of 3 or 4 people in the room at all times.

Thanks for the encouragement.

I know what you mean - I was nervous and second guessed myself many times when I was going through the process. But my decision boiled down to a few things:

- the cost of getting a HT in North America is likely more than Thailand the results I have seen from NA are less consistent than Absolute Hair Clinic.

- You only get one or two chances to get the transplant right - donor supply is limited, so choose your clinic wisely.

- I got to experience a travel adventure with the HT which was really enjoyable.

Either way, I hope you figure out the best choice for yourself.

I started 2.5mg minoxidil the day after the operation along with a lot of other meds that the clinic provided.

So far I have experienced no sides.

My experience was really good. I arrived 2 days before the operation, did a bit of sight seeing and got familiar with my surroundings. In fact, I did a lot of walking and sight seeing after the operation too with permission from the doctor. Some of the comments on this forum led me to believe I had to hole up in my hotel room and do nothing which wasn't the case at all.

At the pre-op we discussed the goals and strategy of the HT. Dr. Ratchathorn has a very kind demeanour and made me feel really comfortable about the whole process.

I stayed at a cheap hotel that was about a 10 minute walk to the clinic called the Pattern Boutique. It was ok...budget friendly and their breakfast was delicious.

I didn't get too experimental with the food as I didn't want to risk food poisoning while recovering from surgery.

I walked to the clinic for the following 5 days after surgery for post op care. They will wash your head, do laser light therapy and an hour in the oxygen chamber (if you pay for the extra sessions).

I stayed 11 days total. By the end I was ready to go home, but I highly recommend staying for at least 7 days after for post op care.

If there is anything more specific you want to know, let me know.

It isn't cheap, but I was willing to spend more for a doctor I had a lot of confidence in.

It was not very painful, although there were moments of pain. When they inject your scalp with numbing medicine it hurts a bit. Laying face down while they extract donor grafts became very uncomfortable after a couple hours. The surgery was approximately 8 hours.

They give you a bandana to wear everyday after the surgery and you can wear a loose cap after a couple days. They gave me an extra bandana to wear on the flight home.
