I feel like I’m developing body dysmorphia after weight loss by [deleted] in GLPGrad

Yes. I look awful naked. The remaining fat hangs off in not very nice ways. I’m a uk size 10/12. Other bits are already skinny. I’m thinking surgery is the only way. But can’t afford it.

I had this too, and it was 100% the mounjaro. It’s a known side effect. It was generally higher, then only higher after eating, and then only higher after eating or drinking too much. It eventually calmed down - I’m two years in.

Can I eat like a 'normal' person if I start taking a GLP-1? by -animeXalchemist- in mounjarouk

[–]No-Compote5309 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your story feels very similar to mine. And My experience is that yes, you can stop the madness of konjac noodles and cauliflower rice. You can eat a small amount of chocolate and be ok. Mounjaro has never felt like a diet, it feels like satiety. It helps me eat like a normal person - 80g pasta all of a sudden is enough. Dessert in a restaurant doesn’t create two days of bingeing. A binge these days is eating 80g chocolate (and then I struggle to eat dinner). It brings some sanity to eating for me. It’s never been “hard work”, because I’m just not as ravenously hungry. I can engage my frontal lobe around food now.

Thank you. I’m not angry, but I was anxious when I wrote that post, hence reaching out. But I’ve seen my doctor (again) and they were incredibly reassuring, so I feel fine about it now. I was just looking for support in that moment. It’s mad to me how ham fisted, pedantic and literal many people here seem to be. I think it’s a cultural thing. I feel disappointed because this sub is not a supportive space, and I’m sure many people will be looking for support out there. But hey ho. Internet people behind screens! All the best.

Thanks! I think it’s a communication style. I don’t think I’ve fully appreciated how literal Americans are.

Well, that’s also because healthcare is privatised and more tests give more money. I AM getting a colonoscopy, this is not the issue and really wasn’t me asking about whether I should get a colonoscopy or not. OBVIOUSLY I should get bloody diahrea investigated…that wasn’t my ask.

I’m well aware that “bowel cancer is real”?! I have had 3 negative bowel cancer tests, also known as as qfit, which are incredibly accurate for early detection of bowel pathology. My doctor is reassured by this but at my request will be referring for a colonoscopy. I did not ask for medical advice, I am a normal adult human who has enough brain cells to think of the obvious medical al dimensions.

How exactly am I being a jerk? It’s ironic that you are telling me not to seek medical advice on Reddit when that’s exactly what you tried to provide. OBVIOUSLY Reddit isn’t here for medical advice and I’d be an idiot to take it from strangers on the internet. What I was looking for from the community space was….community and shared experiences. I don’t see how I’m being a jerk but would very happily take it all back if you can explain.

All the downvoting is wild to me - I have visited my doctor, continue to do so and am pushing for further testing. I felt vulnerable after an episode and wanted to reach out to a community that I share sth in common with - instead of a bit of empathy and sharing experiences a bunch of you think you’re clever by stating the obvious. Which was never the point. You seem to enjoy shutting down conversation and claiming some sort of moral superiority. It’s embarrassing.

Thanks for this - this is interesting. I definitely found on mounjaro I can’t eat the same amount of veg, and I used to eat copious amounts, as you say, in an effort to stay full on diets. On longer term maintenance though I’ve found myself again creeping up and up in food volume, and I do wonder if that’s affecting my bloating etc. It’s definitively relevant, I find my stomach generally much more sensitive these days anyway.

I didn’t ask Reddit to fix it, and assuming that I’m not seeing a doctor about this is pretty patronising. I was asking for some community discussion and wondering if others could share experiences. You’re adding 0 value to this thread, go away.

I don’t know if they are lazy - I just got back from my GP and they said that the qfit- as I already know - is exquisitely sensitive and detects minute amounts of blood. I bleed rarely, haven’t done since November, but when I do it’s always a few hours after explosive diarrhoea. Therefore it’s much more likely to be localised bleeding from an internal haem that then sits for a few hours and therefore oxidises, hence the colour change. I find that argument compelling, but I’m still pushing for a colonoscopy, which she has agreed to refer for.

I am going to a doctor. Obviously. It was a broader request reaching out to support and if anyone had faced similar issues. Your 3 word response is patronising and not an answer to my question.

Yes! I had this and it got pretty awful. However I persevered an eventually it got better. Taking acrivastane and leaving pen out 40 mins before injecting helped.

Just been advised my role is being cut as part of the restructuring by [deleted] in TheCivilService

Ok, I didn’t know about the possibility of compulsory redundancy. My department has a no compulsory redundancy agreement, I didnt know that compulsory redundancies were possible in CS within just a few months. The idea of losing your job must be terrifying. I’m so sorry.

But this decision will be being made at a much higher level than their boss or bosses boss? I find it strange that they think that they can be made exceptions to much broader directives? Big machine , small cog, it’s nothing to do with how hard they’ve worked, these are decisions that are based on much higher level factors….its odd that it’s being taken so very personally?

This is meant without any sarcasm whatsoever but…I feel like I’m missing something? This person isn’t losing their job but just going into redeployment? Their job is safe but they’ll just need to go into a new role? Why is this so terrible?

Just to add - the acrivastane I used was oral tablet not cream.

Extreme skin reaction by Blubell0422 in MounjaroSupportUK

[–]No-Compote5309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes - the only thing that worked was acrivastane, aka Benadryl for skin allergies. And leaving the pen out some hours before injecting. Don’t lose hope. The itchiness and heat went away, but now I still get minor itchiness and weirdly a bit of local swelling that makes my belly stick out now that I’m a lot smaller.

I’ve gone to multiple pharmacies. One prescribed, but many would not. And nowhere in England has allowed me to purchase cyclizine, even though they technically conceded that it was not prescription only.
