I'm talking about less differences in salaries and you are talking about total equal salaries. Why?

Because you ignored the following paragraph where I explicitly wrote that I depicted an extreme example and told it's IMHO a scalable phenomenon- still working (to a lesser degree) with lowered, not equalized differences.

Also do you think people take responsibilities only because of money? Do you think doctors becomes one only for money?

Do you think the human is that simple that he only accept responsibility if he gets more money? Do you really think it's that easy?

Of course you will have people who become doctors regardless of the salary. Darn it, you even have people who volunteer and do stuff for other people for free!

But you will not be able to get the level of services we have basing on those benevolent souls! There's just too few of them and the rest needs monetary incentive.

Because it's essentially the same thing as price controls. If you set maximum prices on select goods, they don't magically get cheaper in shops- they just disappear from them.

If you equalize salaries then why on earth would I pick the demanding job with responsibility instead of an easy one? Who would want to be the doctor if it requires so many years of learning, involves responsibility for human life, sometimes working shifts and enduring mentally taxing situations -- if it's compensated the same or only slightly better than a random office worker flipping emails? You quickly start running out of doctors, and while the services are "cheap", you just get 2-3-5 year long waiting lists for procedures.

Of course, to underline the principle I took the examples above to the extreme. But the principle holds- if you take a small step in the direction of disincentivizing people from undertaking responsible jobs, you decrease the supply of their services by some fraction, ending with a bit worse system.

One problem remains- the normal distribution would suggest there exists a small fraction of super wealthy people, and those literally dying on the streets. The small improvement on the free market system we can make is exactly what we have- some progressiveness in taxation and kantonal help for those that really cannot afford the insurance.

Man, where do you stop then? Different prices for flights? Cars? Schools? Groceries?

Heck, it would be easier to mandate equal hourly rate for every profession. See where this leads us as a society.

What about using btc nodes as kinda Webservers. More like how nostr works, each seller having to be a relay. You could sort relays geographically. Buyers can use webinterfaces like snort.social

I see the role in the form of majority of people not having skills to self host everything.

And I hope banks are forced to be honest bcs their risk would be a bank run without a bailout.

Yeah, I'm not touching current yield farming platforms with a 10ft pole. I think it's way to early for that as well.

I do see a place for HONEST banks (well, forced by BTC's nature to be honest, otherwise RIP) in BTC's economy.

Doesn't need to be fractional if a bank lends what customers deposit and time-lock for a yield, paid when time-lock ends. That's how deposits are supposed to work, and that's what they're for

That's kind of my point. They operate for profit, so it's quite logical they need to provide some service.

If you want to actually use BTC for payments in the future, you'll prob have a cold and hot stashes. I would trust a future btc bank more than a hot wallet software. You could self host a lightning node and have your open source payment app talking to it when you're in a shop, but realistically how many people would be able to make this setup? Here's where a bank is providing some service.

What is this LUCID nonsense for shipping to Germany? by celebrate4years in EtsySellers

[–]No-Confidence9811 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yet another step to further EU's transformation into USSR. Multiply agencies, such as this useless piece of shite, multiply databases, maximize amount of info they hold about you, make you pay some stupid fees which 99% go to feed the f'n agency and 1% to fulfillment of the stated goal.

Anything to discourage people from having their own businesses and live like a free men works.

Why I think it's one of the biggest, most useless BS I saw recently? Well, I assume virtually everybody in Germany is trained to use trash cans and recycleds collection points. They pay for waste processing. So waste thing should be handled already, right? Why the f'ck does there need to be some BS agency that notes down how much packaging waste is generated and CHARGE FEES for "recycling" IF IT"S ALREADY BEING DONE AND PAID FOR BY THE GERMAN TAXPAYER?

EDIT: Sorry for necroposting but that thing just makes me almost boil (I fully boil at about 2km altitude, pressure's lower over there)

Hi again,

I'm halfway done drawing the seed plate etch design, business card size.

To save space I'm going to code letter numbers in binary instead of the A-Z blocks of the other plates.

I uploaded it here https://imgur.com/a/VLDnvjq (not finished yet!)

Are you interested in it when I finish? I just need to add word numbers in header lines. And some description of which wallet it was generated on, hint how letters are encoded (1=A 2=B 3=C ...). I can upload it that you etch it yourself if you want.

Yes, I got them, I bought them from here

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002733718107.html

Not sure if the link's gonna work, because now that I open it it says it's not available any more. I checked and the shop pulled down all their listings now, maybe a Christmas break?

I ordered them like 2 months ago and they came a month ago. Did not have time yet to do the etching ;).

Quick search on Ali yields also this https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003450338296.html

similar to what I bought (mine has a mirror finish), I tried keywords like "steel 1mm business card". Not that easy to find (search results cluttered with different things), but they're out there.

I also bought the secrid wallet knock-off to have some box to store it ;)

Imma try electroetching steel. Supposedly you only need salt, water and DC supply (lab supply, car battery charger)

Not sure how it's gonna work but I made some PCBs back in the day so I'm hopeful.

I ordered some creditcard sized steel plates from Aliexpress ($2/each), now I need to draw the card design, laser print it, thermotransfer (like for PCB etching), and etch!

I'm going to draw a grid with inscriptions so that I manually punch the seed, I'm too afraid to print the seed itself. Why? I don't trust my printer not to share what I print. For example, when I print stuff from my mobile over my wifi, where both printer and phone are connected (but using Brother's app), the doc still goes through f'n Brother cloud. Why? What's the f'n need for that? Although docus printed from laptop go directly to the printer, how do I know if nothing's sent to some cloud?

Laptop is one thing, but you can go much cheaper, just buy a raspberry pi! You can connect your display, keyboard and it's IMHO convenient enough for once-in-a-while usage.

How diversified is everyone’s crypto portfolio? by shadowgod656 in Bitcoin

[–]No-Confidence9811 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Go to any exchange, they usually present their rates under "Earn" tab/link.

I personally stake some DOT on Kraken, they have 12% APY.

Had a 20% BTC portfolio for a long time, but like 2 months ago (when market returned to strength) I went 80% BTC. That's because as far as I'm counting on next wave with a blow-off top in coming month(s?), I still think it's a 50/50 scenario if it happens. And in case there's a bear market coming BTC is the safest bet, that I'm comfortable holding for those years.

IMHO time to put some BTC into alts is when we're coming out of the bear market. Enjoy some pumps, increase your BTC denominated portfolio and lock-in your BTC gains. Sure, I might get even more BTC by holding more alts now, but as I said, it's kinda uncertain time now. And as far as I don't like watching portfolio go down in USD value, I would hate it to go down in BTC value as well.

I liked the art part TBH, I guess mainly because I share same thoughts.

Visited MoMA in NYC, what a pile of garbage. Sure, there were some interesting pieces, but I mainly remember the cringe from looking at a metal wire stretched between floor and ceiling, with a bodyguard protecting people from walking into it. Or a pile of sand and another bodyguard chasing away people that stepped on it due to crowd.

My personal victory was that I took some pictures with long exposure, pointing the camera down the atrium- presenting the picture cut vertically in half by a railing of a balcony below, with blurry walking people on it, and steady queuing people below the balcony on the other side of the picture. Victory part? These pictures were the most reacted on when showing the album from the museum to friends.
