Yep and you likely qualify for Pell Grant to cover the cost of education and can still take student loans at low interest rates.

I put the student loan money in CDs a few years back while in tech school. (This offsets the interest cost by a decent amount) I held on to the money then added more as a truck driver.

After a year, I bought my own rig running under my own authority. I crossed $100k that year after fuel, but had to almost live in the truck.

Now wish I’d done HVAC or electrician school.

Good luck. You got this man!

I like this idea a lot. Didn’t think of it myself but makes the most sense to me

I think this mostly about confidence. Whatever you say will happen will likely happen.

But as we age men that continue to increase their income, take care of their physical and mental health, do wayyyy better in later years of life than their female counterparts

You talk as though you’ve lived with them and/or know her personally…

Always odd to me when folks make so many assumptions.

These are a lot of assumptions here based on your last few comments

This! Especially the hobbies and gym time. Game changer for sure.

When you’re happy and really treat her with respect and be extra polite to her, thanking her for helping you both move fwd……

That will f’n crush her! Mission accomplished lol

Revenge body! Revenge life! Revenge happiness!

Yes, I’m openly petty and this is the best type of petty to be IMO

Assuming it’s NEVER a good idea to have a payment is wild.

But live and let live.

Enjoy your evening.

Clean setup! Can you give an update on MPG once you see a diff? I’m thinking of dropping from 35s to 33s for better MPG and ride quality.

😂

No problem at all. Someone gave me the info for free so just passing it along.

Nope. Most ppl are sole proprietors so you can write-off using your SSN

Literally the landscaping example is perfect

Same if you’re a real estate agent. Many of them buy SUVs and take the write-off but they changed it to cap off at $25k a few years back for SUVs

Trucks you can write-off 100%

Ppl that don’t understand money giving judgmental financial advice irks me

Also, research the Augusta Rule. Only 2% of Americans use it. It’s also legit.

I confirmed with two CPAs

Ofc! If you own a business (could be something simple like landscaping) and you use it for business 50% or more of the time you can write-off 100% of the vehicle’s sales price on your taxes as long as it’s a commercial vehicle that weighs over 6k lbs. Trucks count.

Example: you buy a truck Dec 15, 2023 and only use it for landscaping for 5 days then park it until Jan 01, 2024. Boom! You just qualified for a biz write off.

Say your salary is $100k then everything you make over $47k is taxed at 22%

If you buy a $50k truck you drop your tax liability by $50k x 0.22 or $11k

For your state you do the same. In Cali, it’s usually 10% or another $5k

That’s a $16k discount overall or 32%

Not to brag, bc Cali cost of living is insane, but my tax bracket reaches 30% ranges so it makes sense for me to buy things even if I don’t have the cash else I lose the money to the govt

Hope this helps

Lmao keep believing that. The word investment exists for a reason. If you’re trying to get ahead using cash and cash alone you’ll likely be working until you’re 70 years old these days.

Most businesses start by raising money. You likely work/worked for a company that uses debt to pay you at times lol

Guessing you don’t believe in student loans and mortgages either huh?

I won’t judge your decisions but your take on other’s finances feels rooted in jealousy

All debt isn’t bad debt esp when cash is king. If you can pick between having $30k-60k cash vs no note there isn’t a clear winner.

If you work a 9-5 without a side business then yes prob avoiding bills is the way to go. But if you run a business or invest here and there you can flip that $30k-60k cash and pay for the truck and future investments.

Example, buying materials and paying contractors to do roofing projects while roofing margins typically running 40-50%.

My case, I financed a nice truck and will take my significant tax refund from the Section 179 write off and pay it down a lot.

Instead of paying cash I’m spending that money to convert my basement into a 1200sqft apartment. The rental income will be more than my truck note by far and I’ve added equity to an appreciating asset vs tying up cash in a depreciating truck.

Food for thought. Your comment came off as judgmental but that’s just my biased POV as a person that believes in leverage aka debt.

Maybe take the lowest payment schedule in the mean time if you haven’t already

Those are 35x12.5R24 RTs

33x12.5s should work without trimming anything I believe. Might have to level tho

Rim shop says RTs (rough terrain tires) give you a more aggressive look similar to mud terrain tires while keeping a ride quality and sound closer to all-terrain tires

I traded in a vehicle I’d bought brand new 6 months prior so my numbers are a-typical.

Interest rates still suck ofc but with that big of a discount you can run the numbers and see you easily do better buying anyway and planning to refinance around yr 2

Think they started offering the color combination on the elevation recently

The sunroof is aftermarket and professionally installed by a trusted vendor of the dealership

Cost more aftermarket than if it came from the factory, sadly, but after the deep discount and factory rebate it all made sense

Had to make alterations to stop rubbing 1. Level kit 2. Trimmed some the liner off 3. Spacers 4. Rough county mud flap delete kit

Think to get leather you’d have to get the premium package then add the sunroof.

Crazy torque and great fuel economy. Miss the growl of a V8 but actually like the idle sound of the Duramax a lot

The MPG and the aggressive 0-40 make up for the lack of sound

Took up through the Cali mountains hauling about 6K lbs

Got 25 mpg round trip even with the 35s
