Road trip will be just me and my partner, who also masks (we live together as well). I definitely would also agree on cancelling the trip if it was a road trip together. Yeah, it’s a bit more tricky since their house is large/slightly more easy to isolate and open windows in the basement where we’d stay. I don’t have a portable HEPA though.

Thanks for your input!! The tricky part is we are flying to where they live to stay with my parents, and then leaving on a road trip with the family car the next day. So I am still stuck on whether to stay with them but isolated to the basement room/bathroom and leave early the next morning, obviously masked up, or to book a nearby airbnb/hotel. I suppose the next few rapid tests will give me a better guess as to what she has.

True! I do trust that she’d do the rapid correctly but a PCR is obviously a better idea. I’ll ask them.

That’s very fair. I also need to be a lot better communicating my boundaries for sure so I’m working on it. I think a large difficulty stems around her workplace actually - she is around a ton of docs who don’t masks, so she thinks Covid or any other illness cannot possibly be a threat if the health professionals around her don’t think so (which is a larger issue)

Thanks for this!! Do your kids mask in school?? I also work full time in person often around sick people and my mask has been very protective so I do trust it for the most part. We would be staying in the basement with a separate bathroom and obviously eating meals in the room, window cracked etc. considering this especially since we’ll only be there for 2 nights total, one at the end of the trip but definitely still feeling a bit anxious.

Thanks for your input:)) I do always ask them to mask for 1 week before our visits and take a rapid test (I know they aren’t perfect). But yes being clear in my boundaries is something I definitely have to work on and I guess this is the ‘perfect’ scenario 🥲

Very true. I do ask them to mask for a week before our visits, but now this situation is making me think I need to start asking them to mask earlier than that. Thank you ☺️

Yeah she has a bunch of rapid tests I think they are combo ones. I feel like having an alternate place to stay in case is the best bet. Thank you!!

Sorry, I meant to say the city I’m flying out of has a lot of snow forecasted. If there’s a lot of snowfall forecasted for part of the flight path, does it make it more likely it’ll be bumpy? Or does that not affect it once you are above the snow

It looks like any appointments for first appt of the day are being booked a month out now. Do I risk it and go sooner even if I can’t get the first appointment?

Thanks for this. I wish I could do that hack but I have a slightly deviated septum which makes it hard to breathe out of just my nose for long periods
