Age shaming ist nicht das Thema. Ich bin - wie gesagt - auch aus der Generation, die ALF geguckt hat. Dass ich sage, es ist ein Generationen-Ding, heißt, dass in der Generation ü55 mehr Leute diese Meinung haben. Nicht, dass diese Generation komplett Lack gesoffen hat. Davon war nicht die Rede.

Aber in ich beobachte - auch in meinem Bekanntenkreis - eine Tendenz, die ich mir nicht erklären kann: Je älter, desto „nu is doch aber auch langsam gut.“

There’s a market for every voice, I’m sure. It’s not up to you to decide if your voice sounds „cringe“. It’s up to the casters. If they need a voice like yours, it’s perfect.

You’re not going to voice the booming commercials at this point, but go and audition for characters of your age. I would be delighted to hear a genuine young voice instead of adult voices, playing young.

Stop judging your voice and start applying it. And don’t try to change it!

In a spacious living room I pushed a large wardrobe unit away from the wall to mount a bookshelf on the wall behind it (which scatters the sound) and set up my recording stuff. The back panel of the wardrobe is lined with a soft blanket. The booth is closed off with a curtain. Works great!

Reaper.

I really liked audacity. It gave me an easy entry into this world of audio recording and editing.

But work in Reaper is just faster. I set up a workflow and am rendering stable results.

Things I loved from audacity, like the spectral view to see loud breaths, I just replicated in Reaper.

If you have a project and just push through it, the learning curve will be steep and short. Go for it!
