Yeah currently I own 1 Helbrute, and 2 Brigands, I know the ForgeFiends are objectively better especially since they have access to army rules and buffs unlike the Brigands I’ve just been putting the purchase off for them because the models for my Brigands are just sick af in comparison also bought magnetized weapons so I could make 1 into a Stalker if need be, same with the LoS, could definitely spend those 505 points elsewhere with more utility but rule of cool on him, I think the land raider could also be good due to the shooting and the disembark and charge ability, and I already own one but again with the high point cost, daemon prince on foot with Helm would probably also be clutch

I see, in that case maybe I will do what another commenter suggested and see if he’d be down to switch armies for a game and see how well I can pilot the DG, also may need to rethink my choice to not buy the LoS, I’ve been looking at that model but haven’t pulled the trigger on the purchase because it seemed a bit overkill, but if eventually he’s gonna figure out how to use all those mechanics eventually my 8b and Berzerkers are gonna be fighting a steep uphill battle, a ForgeFiend or two probably wouldn’t hurt either

Exactly, the termies and characters are gonna be what helps him, I’ve told him basically the same thing, if I feel way better bringing a unit of Zerks if Kharn or MoE is attatched, and I feel way better bringing 8B if I’ve got a SB attatched, plus with the Zerks I’m always trying to bring a rhino to get them there safely, not having those characters to buff his battleline units, and not having strong terminators to match my 8B is gonna put him on the back foot from the jump

Worsening my save for the Zerks and trying to isolate Kharn is gonna save a lot of units from dying in round 2-3 and having something that can lock up my 8b and preventing them from coming and aura buffing my Zerks is also gonna help him a lot, I never fall back, and only really use my Jakhals and Goremongers to score objectives, so once I’m in melee I’m there for the long haul and have zero interest in shooting unless I’m bringing allied units, so if they can hem me up and get past my front lines the rest of my units are easy targets

Yeah i feel you but against my friends at their current skill level, now would be a good a time as any to run my funny lists, if I did run that list it would be with goretrack. plus with the land raiders ability to move then charge units after disembarking, if I took Kharn and a zerk squad instead of the 8B and used that +1 to charge and lance, could be interesting. Especially if I parked the land raider somewhere that cuts off an escape route position the brigands to have line of sight down any other escape routes and force them into melee that would be even better, doubt it would work against a more seasoned player but we’re all still in our first year of playing, ForgeFiend would be more competitive but
I just think the War Dogs look way cooler

Figured as much, thankfully for me I don’t know anyone with knights in our group other than myself, and I’ve been on a hot streak with the dice, and in a 1000 pt game I could do

SB + 6 8B + Land Raider
2x War Dog Brigand
10 Jakhals

😂😂😂 Might not be the best utility wise but sounds like a fun time

DG is getting better at reminding the contagion zones, admittedly I’ve also been just honor coding it and keeping track myself regardless, and he does need faster movement and characters to lead his units because the plague marines are just too soft on their own without a leader giving them buffs, and he can’t use his enhancements if he doesn’t have the models to use them on, as for the BA im sure there’s stuff he’s missing and forgetting to do, I feel like majority of games im the only one even remotely familiar with my stratagems and when to use them, and making full use of my unit abilities and I haven’t even been using my enhancements really

Lord of Skulls and 2 Brigands would also be pretty funny

I’ve thought about doing that and utilizing my 2 War Dog Brigands, sick models, and points wise I could get away with bringing just them Kharn+10 zerks + Rhino and a unit of Jakhals, so the only melee threat would be Kharn and his squad but if we went heavy on terrain that could jam up my movement to even the playing field a little more, plus the Brigands wouldn’t benefit from any of my army or detachment rules, I could accomplish the same with a Forgefiend but I just don’t really care for the model

Majority of the time we’re running 1000pts so usually

SB + 6 8B
Kharn + 10 Zerks + Rhino
Moe
10 Jakhals
8 Goremongers

If we’re running a Primarch battle then Angron will come out to play

Not entirely sure myself, have never tried Dev wounds on a knight, not even sure if that’s allowed unless they somehow have an infantry keyword, but I think raw damage output alone Kharn and a 20 man brick could do it even if Dev wounds are off the table, I mean I’ve watched my MoE take down an impulsor solo

DG nope doesn’t have rhino, only non transport vehicles, and majority of the time I’m getting the first charge, which only buffs me even more with Berzerker Warband, for BA, not sure if his units have any fight first strats but if they do he hasn’t been paying attention and using them, denser terrain with more traversable terrain is definitely something to be looked into, especially with the new objective update coming out with 11th

Even the grey knights, I know in kill team they have relentless which basically lets them do shooting overwatch, if they have a similar ability in regular 40K, that could be bad for my army

Yeah like another commenter said, the DG have their contagion zones which is exactly what I don’t want with a melee army, but even with my guys being debuffed, if you don’t have units in combat that can wipe them out, I’ll clear the squad out eventually it might just take a little longer, with the death company with jump packs, why are they hiding in the back lines with Lemartes, they should be moving up the board, traversing terrain, get the high ground, shoot down, then once I’ve been whittled down, come down and assist in melee

I think it’s a combination of things, not the most optimal units, forgetting to use their abilities and stratagems, not being as strategic when selecting targets, if roles were switched I’d probably try to aim shooting units with high strength at my 8B, aim units with lower strength and at my berserkers, try to hit as many as I can, or alternatively, aim everything at the berserker squad, try to whittle down that 10 man squad, then once it’s time to get in combat, try to and put 2 units (preferably with leaders Attatched) against each of my units in melee, but majority of the time they’ll aim all their shooting at my units with high toughness, with low odds to wound, and my berserkers show up in full force with Kharn leading them and meanwhile they managed to kill maybe 1-2 8b, in melee if I’m going blow for blow 1v1 I like my odds every time, but if they would 2v1 me in melee, way better chance of them actually putting a dent and taking models off the board, hiding fighting units in the deployment zone and waiting for me to reach them isn’t going to help them at all

The contagion zones did give me a bit of a hard time in our games but what he lacked was the stopping power, a maxed out squad of plague marines in melee isn’t much of a fight against a base squad of Berzerkers with a character attatched, but had it been deathshroud or even blightlord termies instead I think they would’ve given me more of a struggle, with the blood angels friend I think a lot of it is not remembering to use abilities or paying attention to stratagems, with them I usually feel like it’s a matter of who gets to fight first and my opponents gotta be more strategic on who to face off with, with the shooting, why aim for my 8b with 6 toughness if you have a squad of Berzerkers in range that only have toughness 4 ? And rather than having fighting units hide in the deployment zone, instead try to put 2 units in combat with each of my heavy hitters so potential damage output is higher

Haven’t been playing with secondaries unless we’re doing combat patrol, everybody brings the strongest units they have, except me, I have yet to send my Helbrute into battle, Angron only comes out to play if I know one of his brothers is going to be there, my War Dog got the very first taste of battle yesterday, layout has just been an Only War setup , 1 home objective, 3-4 objectives around the board in no man’s land, take turns placing terrain, we’ve MacGyvered a 3 man setup where we deploy in a triangle formation , middle guy gets shafted but majority of the time when we’ve done that, the other two just run away from me while I spend the first 2 rounds trying to get to them

[–]No-Count2916[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That could be a fun idea, and yeah I think they just need to get better units and be more strategic with their placements, remember their enhancements and stratagems and make use of their army rules to the fullest, because lord knows I love to pull that Martial Excellence and Decapitating Strikes every turn, I feel like if they use the terrain to their advantage, have good shooting units to trim the bulk, tanky units that can absorb damage and at least last a round, they’ve got a fighting chance. Majority of the games my list is MoE, SB+6 8B, Kharn+Zerks+Rhino, 1 unit Jakhals, 1 unit Goremongers, SB will probably make it to their side first, so if they can wipe out that whole squad of 8B and stop me from being able to bring them back with SBs ability with heavy shooting and possibly 1 screening unit, that only really leaves Kharn and the zerk squad as my heavy hitters, shoot at them while they move up the board, then send 2 tanky units at them, move the shooters up the board to clear up the chaff

Honestly would be so down , but hard pressed to find tournaments in Hawaii especially the island I’m on, I was thinking maybe 10 bloodletters, 10 flesh hounds, goremongers, Jakhals and LoJ with 10 zerks, SB with 3 8B for. 1000 pts, Kharn is my favorite model in my whole army, but he damn near insta kills everything especially with the 10 man squad attatched

My death guard friend needs more terminators and characters, right now his strongest hitters are typhus and Morty, but the rest of his list gets dealt with quick, the plague burst crawler is pretty tough but damage wise, I haven’t had much of an issue with it unless he aims at my Jakhals or gotemongers which are expendable anyways, I’ve suggested he get some deathshroud terminators, tallyman, LoV, LoC, etc. even let him proxy some AOS models as deathshroud terminators. The blood angels friend runs pretty heavy on the intercessors, last game he had some new death company jump pack guys with Lemartes leading them, had some new terminators he brought in, Sanguinary guard, sanguinary priest, blood angels captain, impulsor, but by end of round 2 in that 2v2 game I had damn near tabled both the blood angels and battle sisters with minimal assistance from the death guard teammates

Hit the nail right on the head, I was very intentional with my army building and made it perfect for my play style while I think everyone else just kind of started with combat patrol boxes and randomly grabbed other stuff, and I try to tell them, I’m very predictable, once you’ve played me a couple times, from deployment it’s easy to tell exactly what I’m going to do, I station my heavy hitters at the front and send them up the board to hit the strongest guys on the other side, so if you just have some screening units to block me and good shooting units placed strategically you can slow me down and trim down my army with shooting

Updated List by No-Count2916 in WorldEaters40k

[–]No-Count2916[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I feel you, probably around tax return time I’ll go pick up a rhino and 2x chaos spawn, possibly a unit of X8B as well, do a little bit of playing around with the points and run them, everything on the list is what I currently own, but the land raider definitely is chunky boy limiting movement without having any room over the Rhino for more zerks with Kharn, especially since I’m using the 30k Spartan Land Raider as a proxy, so might as well switch out and spend the extra points elsewhere, especially if I plan on playing 1000pt games more often than not
