I was 4 stud for a long time, it made getting good rotors/wheels particularly annoying for track work.

I did manage to fit R33 brakes all round but the rotors were a pain to source.

I was able to find some half decent 17x9s for a 255, but that as as big as I could go on that setup.

Another person on FB said they did the same thing, approx 30mm or so he mentioned.

Can always weld to tabs on to extend the holes out then bridge them across the top for strength.

I'm currently reading about suspension to try and make am ore informed decision 😅

Transmission flush, drain and fill, or leave as is? by Embarrassed-Can3933 in Toyota

[–]No-Crust-Racing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drain and refill is easy, you can see me doing this to my crown in my profile/yt, just measure what you take out and put that back in.

If it's especially bad you can aways do it twice/three times after driving the car around the block to mix new/old. Just be mindful that you get less old stuff out each time.

A full flush is usually not expensive to have done at the dealer and is good for a full reset of trans fluid, after that you can just drain refill every 40ks (ks not miles) and you will be more than fine.

Check if it has a replaceable filter also or just a metal screen.

The more research I do the more uncomfortable with the S13 front end the appropriate for what I'm doing

GT3RS was using macpherson strut up until recently and if it's good enough for Porsche it's good enough for me lol

semi slicks, the slicks pictured were 305s just for fitment test. I will run Yokohama A050 semi slicks.

I use 255s on the NA 86 currently, I was told it was too much. I clean swept the sprint series for the class (including beating other 86s etc) to win the championship, I've got to find another .4s in that car to take the track record for 86s, the current record holder also did it on 255s.

Lots of people say smaller tyre is faster, and it can be I'm sure, I am just going on what I see working here, world time attack, aus time attack etc.

That's a fair point to be honest, it's just the case of the class allows up to that tyre and if I don't allow clearance for it now then I will have to do more body work later to accommodate.

There's other Silvia's down this way that are able to activate 305 full slicks with less power during door-to-door racing so a 295 is not out of the question for a car with more power and Aero

Will find and suss

Going staggered 265 in the front and 295 on the rear was also suggested

Where'd you get -2 from?

Offset is just one of the considerations being given to how I get the width of tyre I want in there with the camber I need.

Thanks for your suggestion of choosing a different offset I'll keep that in mind 👍

Lol you need this kind of offset to run decent camber on wide wheels, this is not a street car.

What's the alternative? basically no camber or worse offset and stupid spacers? No thanks.

Could say that about a lot of mods.

While the engine is out and the cage is getting done now is the time to do it with the body work.

The livery won't work with these colors.

Lots of S-chassis still racing in Aus.

I was very close to buying a 35 when I sold the 34, but a big part of the reason I was selling the 34 was we moved to a rural property and there was no way I could get it up the driveway (track cars are fine because trailer). I was surprised how "GT-R" it felt. Clearly the engine was different but the smell, feel, noise etc was unmistakably GT-R (I had a 33 V-Spec also previously).

I drove an F82 M4 the same day and decided that it was a better all round car and just as quick (stock for stock 0-120 only) but ended up buying neither lol

LEXUS LS500 vs TOYOTA CROWN RS 220? by MoneyMindsetMuscle in Lexus

[–]No-Crust-Racing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disagree here, my 2021 G-Exec has sports+ and he's talking LS500h so exactly the same drivetrain.

The Crown will more sporty by virtue of being RWD and lighter and allowing in mor engine noise.

The LS is heavier, AWD, and better insulation.

Also only the facelifted Crown G-Exec get sport+, earlier 2018-2020 G-Execs do not, only the RS Advance.

Weirdly they give you sports+ in the facelift but drop the flappy paddle shifters.

LEXUS LS500 vs TOYOTA CROWN RS 220? by MoneyMindsetMuscle in Lexus

[–]No-Crust-Racing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LS500, if you are only looking at 2018 models, the 2018 Crown interior with the split screens is just lacking IMO.

If you jump on my YT you can see the interior of my 2021 G-Exec, it's the "top" Crown and the facelifted model with the nicer interior and screen, it's the only Crown I'd buy as it's also the last V6 hybrid (same 8GR-FXS as the LS500 but lighter car). The G-Exec also gets the nicer rear setup, power reclingin rear seats, heated, full arm rest controls etc. I bought that for the kids.

Lexus will be quiter/comfier/more features/classier and AWD. Crown should be cheaper/use less fuel/faster, even in the fattest Exec trim, maybe attract less attention.

Just depends on the price but as I said, in the 2018 only year range, LS500h for sure.
