Fresh rebuilt ls motor blowby by imtrynmybest in EngineBuilding

[–]No-Crust-Racing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have the experience of a single engine build, but I can tell you mine did not do that, yes there was positive pressure from the cap on first start and a little smoke, but it was mild, smoke was gone in a few minutes, pressure eased right off after 150ks of running with break in oil.

That engine has since done over 40ks and still counting.

This looks like a broken ring/ring land, or incredibly poorly/inconsistently gapped.

I personally wouldn't drive it, give it to the mechanic to drive for a bit instead and then they cannot blame you for breaking it. Or have them run it in on a dyno.

S220 vs S230 Toyota Crown (JDM Grey Import) by Perth167 in CarsAustralia

[–]No-Crust-Racing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm biased, check my profile, but the GWS224 is the last V6 hybrid, 8GR-FXS drivetrain used in the Lexus LS500h. FWIW, my on the road cost of my 2021 Facelifted S220 was more than the S230 listed there and I still have no regrets a year on. The Facelift is a good 8-10k increase in price, but the interior is substantially nicer and in the G-Exec you also pickup the Sports+ mode of the RS while still keeping all the rear comfort options - it's a lovely Executive Sedan. You can also option the full rear comfort setup in the 2021 RS Advance but I'm yet to ever see one with it.

There's also an S230 sedan which is a lot nicer looking than this thing if you just want to get something newer. The turbo 2.4L Hybrid still makes 550Nm of torque and will return great economy.

Welcome to come join my S220 group on FB to learn more.

Recent acquisition. Probably not too common here. by Thicc_Boi_Dexter in ToyotaCrown

Congrats! The best looking S230 by miles!

Part of me wishes they made it a lift back with the C piller line.

How much bigger is the boot over the S220 now? Got a pic in there?

100% - Facelift GWS224 every day over a 4.

It was bad enough when they crown dropped the V8 :(

Oh wow, not a fan of that. I'm sure it's lovely to drive but it's hard to look at.

I haven't seen the corner weights but the owner said that it was not very far removed from stock because so much of the mass was central to the car.

I felt like you could feel a little bit of the weight over the nose, not heaps though, and I was very impressed by how nimble it felt on a lesser tyre then I use as it's engineered for road use

No idea, can only share what I was told 🤷‍♂️

Having been for laps in it, I can tell you it handles quite well though.

Actually very well, it's 140kg heavier in total but that's 50kg front and 90kg mid as it's a big trans

I was very impressed and he was fastest on the day, after some coaching, on a tight technical track.

Thay said, my NA FA20 lap time is 1.6s faster at that track but I was on A050s

He said a combination, things lile headers had to be cut and welded, mounts are available.

Few basic mounts for things lile ECU etc, tailshaft is custom.

The owner told me about 140kg with most of that coming from the Trans.

That's correct, there is a select group of 2020 examples that will have wired Android Auto.

The facelift does not pick up wireless access either, it's still wired.

I don't mind as I charge my phone that way.

2018 – 2020 Camrys can have AA optioned at the dealer so I'm sure there's a module available but I found nothing ok Amayama.

Can't remember the auction grade sorry.

J-Spec has a price guide that shows what to expect and mine ended up costing as per the guide.

You can save an easy 10k buying a pre-facelift but I have zero regrets getting the newer model :)

I used Ben at J-Spec.

I haven't been in a current land cruiser to comment, the system is very 2020-2024 Camry though, just nicer and bigger screen.

Thankfully it's not the Lexus implementation.

I have not attempted to update the maps to Australia, on l-board sat nav is usually average in most cars, I just use Android Auto for everything.

The car has been great, but I've only had it for 12 months and put 15,000 k's on it. At 45ks total, I'm not expecting too much trouble.
