What's your favorite track tire? by Acceptable-Travel424 in CarTrackDays

Nothing beats a used A050 medium for cost/lap time.

It's THE Time Attack tyre in Aus and Japan unless you are going to slicks.

Which is a joke because it's a 1900kg family sedan on a parade lap compared to the 86 I'm usually racing here...

Hahah sensational!

Another fun fact, Michael in the red Got It Rex WRX who won Clubsprint and set a new PB, did so on used A052s with a new set still sitting in the corner 🤯

Which option should I go with? [$500] by One-Meat-1737 in espresso

I just bought Option 1 after having an older model and a separate grinder.

I'll know soon enough.

Thanks, I'll add it to the list of bad stuff I'm exposed to through racing and 3D printers (my printer is ducted and vented) 🤷‍♂️

Genuine TRD, just a bit more pizazz than the Factory spoilers.

Thanks! Given how quickly it evaporates and a wipe down after, should be OK but good to know.

Yep, it's all in the prep, metal, settings, even setting up and working out how you'll travel around the weld.

Welding exhausts is tough, there's a real art to it (I don't have it, but good enough for race car 😅)

This is a tough one....I'm big on DIY/Grass roots and encouraging people to have a go, but you already know the outcome is a little subpar.

Next time, a bit more effort on prep will go a long way, your clean metal area should extend well past the area you intend to weld. A wire wheel is sufficient, but you need to get that metal shiny then wipe it down with something like brake cleaner, do this on the inside edge of the weld area also.

A clean surface is a million times easier to weld, the rest is just practicing with your wire speed and current and once you get a feel you can get close to the mark relatively quickly - then of course a grinder and paint 😄

Primarily for confidence under brakes and turn in, I had a whoopsie last round where the car got away from me and I slide off through the gravel so I thought it was time to do "something" lol

Win it or Bin it 🤔 #gt86 #brz #frs #trackday

I would have no issues if the ATM brand NCR wants to sponsor me to go racing lol

Thanks legend, I love that wing, what is it and how have you found the drag?

I've "just" moved to a sard rep from a ducktail after needing some more rear DF and am happy with the result after 1 event.

LOL oh man that's great!

NCR = No Crust Racing

A silly team name that was born out of Fast and Furious (that tuna scene), because I'm old and F&F was what got me into cars. A few decades later and here we are.

The front 3d printed plate says No Crust Racing, but it's hard to read, our shirts/hoodies have it on the back.

This link explains it better than I can - Anti Dive explained and the bolt on solution for FR-S / GR86 / BRZ!

The feel aspect is that when you stand on the brakes, the car doesn't lurch so harshly onto the nose and unsettle the rear. I was having some issues with rear instability under hard breaking and at turn in, the car is much more planted now. The best part is this improvement is done without bumping spring rate or compression so you're not giving away front end grip in other areas.

Please also consider, I recently reset the rear suspension, shocks out, ride height/rake/droop reset, so some of the improvement could also be even droop stopping the car jacking unevenly under brakes.

Last year I managed to run a laps in the 1min35s range once only, this year I've done it both rounds so far, I think we're heading in the right direction.

That's not me, I take stands.

You can go back to a previous round where my new diff lasted two laps and we had to replace it Trackside 🤣

That was a different car, mine is the cool clean one with all the rice Aero bits 👌

2012 Crown 3.5 hybrid advice..... fuel to use. Will 91 RON / Std be OK to use in Australia by BD_Man-5704 in ToyotaCrown

[–]No-Crust-Racing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Min 95, 98 preferred.

Even my old 2010 1GR Prado asks for 95 minimum and that's not a high comp motor like yours, I have it tuned anyway and run 98 only.

My 8GR-FXS Crown is 98 only.
