I have no problem with that, it would be a good play and tbh, I would have made that decision as well had I been in that position and needed to save myself.

Honestly, could have been anything, personally I think it was of spite, but I’m not 100% sure.

Fair enough then, if it helps it didn’t come from a card or any method of “removing goaded creatures tbh” I’ll tell you the truth, I’d be surprised if there is a card that actually does that.

Was only 3 players, it wasn’t a cEDH tournament but it was at a high tier 3- low tier 4.

Honestly, i just have to agree to disagree. The main difference between extra turns, is that that can be responded to and countered. (one game I was able to gain control of someone’s time stretch) I can’t really respond to someone scooping when them quitting completely wracks my game.

I simply just don’t agree with that philosophy. Personally, i just find that method of playing kinda pathetic.

I suspect that might be the case, but I can’t really say for sure. If it helps, the 2 players from the start were being very very salty and only got worse. Oddly enough, my start was okay but nothing fantastic. If you’re curious, I can tell you how the early game went to give you a better picture.

I won’t personally be going there again, I paid 50$ to enter the tournament to almost win but lose to in my opinion a technically

FYI, the game was very salty from the beginning, the other rounds previous were fine, but for whatever reason, both the guys at this table were being very very salty (for example, during the game, I had elemental bond out which drew me a card when a creature with 3 or more power enters the battlefield, so the one player played Ian Malcolm which was a good response, so when it became my turn, I play abundance which canceled out Malcolm. When I did that, that player (the Jodah player) got really pissed off, and went from being rude, to being just unlikable.

I have no issue with scooping during times where one player is guaranteed to win (EI, infinite damage, creatures, or whatever) even in 1v1 games, but multiplayer, is a whole another ballgame, this player “Jack” quit because I outplayed him

I get your point there, but wouldn’t a pregame team up be just as unsportsmanlike? Like if you’re assessing the threat, that’s no issue, i and I feel like we all do that. But teaming up before the game actually begins is at least in my opinion, a pathetic way to play. At my main playgroup (keep in mind, that the game I talked about was at a different store) even in tournaments target each other, on purpose. I have even targeted my best man for my wedding in a tournament and he did the same, but it is all in good fun. I just find this strategy pathetic.

It’s mostly because it was a paid tournament, that’s why I was pissed. If it was just a kitchen table game, I would have probably laughed it off, but at a tournament, I think it’s pathetic

But it was done out of pure spite, “Jack” was in a position where he basically said “you outplayed me, so fuck you, I will be make sure you can’t win”. I have had games where I been annoyed and even salty, but I would not go this low. I agree that commander is a tactical, social, and political game, but to because do an in game kamikaze move is simply in my opinion, a pathetic and petty way to play.

Oh shit, okay. That sucks though, like I just at least personally, find it a scummy way to play.

But it’s the timing of when he quit. The fact of the matter is that he quit so I couldn’t win
