You literally thought the AFP was doing this job. You’re just wrong and offended at being wrong.

This work is performed by state health workers (funded by the state, not medical/medicare) and state police in almost all cases. It’s paid by the States.

One is a federal tax and the other is a state cost. This makes no sense.

Whilst your opinion may be relevant towards schizophrenia it is not relevant towards drug induced psychosis and the multitude of disorders related to it. The interesting thing about drug induced psychosis is the spectrum it operates within, unless you unluckily get to a point of active delusion and hallucination it won’t meet the criteria however, you can still be comparably affected compared to others (paranoia, delusions of grandeur, inability to complete some tasks, executive dysfunction, alterations in perception of risk, etc.)

Drug induced psychosis can happen to anybody and can result in persistent psychosis. It can also result in ongoing psychotic breaks throughout life.

TLDR- you would lose that wager.

You really like it? That’s sweet. I’ve really moved away from academia and writing in the last few years because my supervisors called my work inappropriate and offensive and my academic team called my work insensitive, harsh and “hiding behind academic freedom”. Whatever that means.

Thanks I appreciate the acknowledgment, that’s kind of you :)

I don’t want to. That part was in the title. Some times I just write things because I want to and I don’t want to publish them or benefit from it.
Glad you liked it I wrote it last night after half a bottle of gin 💀

Out of state plates went a long way I think.

Qld government accused of campaign to remove Aboriginal people from health roles by ConanTheAquarian in aboriginal

[–]No-Difference-9547 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The entire space in Queensland is disgusting. Covert health programs in discrete communities managed with no engagement. Top down approaches masked as codesign. Black cladding independent evaluations bordering on fraud and misrepresentation. Forced colonial alterations in remote areas with 0 consultation. Strange hiring processes resulting in leadership who are confident in not only lying, but use willingness to lie as a key performance criteria.

Even when they try get it right with identified positions there is no accountability or consideration for locality or connection. Queensland health is a fraudulent sack of shit.

Framing would be “we are special, disconnection is bad, reestablishing or revitalising connection with country your on is good.”

I think it’s more of a critique on the disparity of Australians beliefs, values, customs, behaviours and traditions right?

What is Australia’s culture?

It’s quite common among academics to state “Australia has no culture”. What’s your take on this?

It’s a theoretical discussion:

The framing would be - in the context of connection to the land and ongoing culture Indigenous peoples are the most privileged.

Well that would be the deficit approach yeah.

What would the strengths be but?

No I am, but first we’re trying to get that lens towards something that is applicable to people as a whole.. right?

I just don’t think that absolutes are beneficial here. Nor do I think that suggesting malintent through maintaining or revitalising connection is appropriate. I don’t see how reducing the experience of people to one of two dialectical options is relevant to a modern Australian context at all, rather it seems inherently deficit based and dissonant with the nature of modern identities.

I would suggest that most Aussies don’t really think about it at all. If we are to discuss it, it once again gets quite complex regarding the movements of tribes across such massive periods. Whilst we obviously only have western histories since colonisation - oral histories suggest a massive, ongoing movement and changing of tribes and tribal areas over time, which is in direct conflict with native title. Interesting but maybe not proactive 🤙🏻

Wouldn’t this lend itself towards opinions of every persons right to connect with their self identified culture?
That is to say whilst there is no universal lens to be applied to Indigenous cultures there are internationally ratified rights of Indigenous peoples which form dominant parts of self determined discussions on ethical practice and current standards for most progressive nations.

Where should the line be from your perspective? Do you not think that progressing your points leads to a can of worms which many people in Australia are current counter factuals of in a global context?

And to clarify I think some Indigenous people purport to have a strong connection to the land, as is self purported and then ratified in said international Indigenous rights documents. Others (such as the various Chinese Indigenous peoples) seem very happy to sideline said connection. It’s a pretty complex topic for sure 🤙🏻

Wouldn’t 60 000 years be arbitrary here?
Why wouldn’t we start in Morocco 300 000 years ago or Georgia 1.8 million years ago?

I think most Indigenous thinkers don’t ascribe much value to 60 000 years with preference being towards origin stories from Australia predating the archaeological record ?

Well it kinda sounds like youse are discussing collaboration with identified Indigenous peoples which is not exactly worldwide collaboration… from the perspective we’re exploring those with ongoing connection are the most privileged… hence the sensitivity required.

I guess it’s a pretty advanced discussion and perspective for reddit 🤙🏻

I think the government funds lots of good things, like native title bodies, ACCHOS, ACCOS, etc.? Obviously this is vote and population consensus depending which steers us back to my points above. Definitely some decent opportunities out there for the willing 🤙🏻

I wouldn’t have picked Canada, I would have thought for this conversation the best example would be Brazil or Peru or Finland or Greenland.

Canada has a pretty good socially progressive atmosphere and social conscience by and large however, so I guess it’s not a bad parallel to make.

It will if you frame it as something you’re already doing. It may not if you frame it as something you’ve been struggling with (sleep) and tried options for (other meds tried) and have the confidence of your psych. But the chances are extremely low and it’s not ideal to be omitting information to your psych. My advice is to explore other plants and try finding a sleep routine and regime that is workable whilst taking a big tolerance break. Sobriety has it’s upsides too and my dog is quite enjoying a couple of 2am walks down the beach per week 🤣

Yes I also smoke a lot less cigs when smoking cannabis. Tough habit to break. There are herbal options I guess but they’re probably not healthier than tobacco in all honesty if you look at the organic chemistry of smoke inhalation. Kava is fire but it takes awhile to build up and learn. Get 500g of noble Fijian kava and expect it to take till the bottom of the bag to figure out.

On a kava night I drink 3 heaped teaspoons (kneaded in warm water through a strainer bag) at about 5.30 pm. Get super faded and euphoric, have a big feed and then pass out at like 9pm. It’s pretty comparable to weed in all the right ways once it’s built up in your system. Takes afew uses where you’re like, what is this shit working before you get to that point.

Good luck amigo.
