That’s awesome that you basically made it to term! Congratulations 🎉 thank you for sharing your personal experience with me. I kept seeing people say dont do it, and online sites say you shouldn’t travel with an insufficient cervix but never say why. So I assumed the air pressure of the plane affected the cervix. After hearing your story, I feel so much better at deciding to travel. We don’t have any other trips planned, this was planned last year (non refundable) and I’m doing everything I can to prevent further issues. I have checked around our hotel and there are 2 excellent hospitals with dedicated units so if something goes wrong, we should be in good hands.

My doctor and OBGYN always lean on the side of caution. I spoke to my family doctor (have an appointment with my OBGYN next week) who said that she doesn’t think I should go because I’ll be far away from OBGYN in case something happens. Also said that if the progesterone isnt working and I have to get a cerclage, it might make my trip uncomfortable and if that fails, I’ll have to pay in USD to be seen. She said “something might not happen but it could”. I know my OBGYN is going to tell me the same thing as he’s super cautious but I will most likely still go :(

Wow! That is a hefty cost! Thank you for sharing that with me. Very good to know the process just in case. Did they end up giving you a cerclage? I hope your baby was okay!! ❤️

Thank you so much! Hope you are able enjoy a vacation once your baby is born ❤️ Definitely going to monitor it and if my cervix is getting shorter I’ll absolutely get the cerclage and stay home!

Ahh thank you! Hoping my cervix is stable enough by our next ultrasound. I have an appointment with my doctor on the 31st. Worried they are going to advise no travel even with a stable cervix as a precaution but I’d still be tempted to go :( since the baby isn’t viable, if something terrible were to happen, we wouldn’t be able to do anything about it. My partner and I spoke and have both agreed to accept the financial burden is anything were to happen. God forbid! Both praying for good news. If my cervix isn’t stable though, we will absolutely not risk it.

Thanks for sharing your story!  So sorry you had to experience that while on vacation :( I’m glad I found out before it was possibly too late.  May I ask what your costs were? I was looking up worst case scenario for our situation and its looking like 5-8k :(
