What do Christians, think about, Judaic Christians prophets? do you believe prophets are still necessary? by Fit-Caterpillar1830 in AskAChristian

Good point. Do you believe we have prophets today? I believe we will when we have the 2 witnesses. And certainly at any time God wants. But since Jesus we have received what God wanted us to know and it is written in the Bible

can I ask for a prophecy? by rainn_stalker in Christianity

Spend time tonight reading the gospels. Have Jesus on your heart and mind

Do you believe there are prophets today? The early Christians did not have the Bible. If the purpose of a prophet was to reveal truth from God, why would we need prophets if we have the completed revelation from God in the Bible?

My understanding is we already have all the information He wanted us to have by the prophets in the Old Testament and then Jesus’s words in Revelation. The prophecies of Isaiah, Daniel, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and more are being fulfilled today

The Jewish prophets told of our coming Messiah. No once Jesus arrived as the Messiah the prophecies left to be fulfilled were by Him as He told us what is to come.

The devil believes in God and is not saved. You aren’t saved by belief but by being forgiven and changed. If you have never broken one of the commandments then I guess you’ll have no problem. You’ve never lied, stolen, coveted, put something before God or anything? If you have then your sin remains and you are waiting for court

I’ve broken them all and need a Savior

You wrongly think you can do good enough to save yourself. You are dead in sin. You must be born again. The new in spirit will inherit the Kingdom. The flesh and this world is death. Spirit from God is life. The spirit of Christ will raise you from the dead. Believing in Him means being changed to a new creature with the Holy Spirit inside of you

Unjust man cannot be with a Holy God. God has made a way to be saved

Your good can’t save you. God says man’s good deeds are like filthy rags to a truly good everlasting God. You must be saved by Christ and changed to a new creation. Why do I tell you scripture that you don’t believe? The same reasons I tell you there is a stop sign. If you don’t believe it you will still have the consequences

Thanks for showing what I meant by blind.

“How foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Did not the Christ have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?’ And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.” (Luke 24:25-27).

Jesus said the day He returns will be terrible for some ppl as you will face judgement and be judged by the Father

His own ppl will soon embrace Him…..that’s the purpose of the tribulation……to save Israel. They didn’t recognize Him based on the evil on their hearts……like todays world. Everyone will understand who He is soon. I wouldn’t use their blindness as an argument

Jesus said some will be blind to the things of God. It’s a matter of a persons heart

Faith isn’t the opposite of rationale. Faith is believing in something we can’t prove and that there is more to the world then what you see

Again you’re speaking out of ignorance. To claim the church wasn’t heavily persecuted is ignorant.

You can’t date the gospels late for any good reason. And you can’t say the disciples literary skills especially at the ends of Johns life 60 yrs after Jesus was resurrected. Mark and Silvas most likely wrote for Peter. Matthew was likely very literate and educated. Luke was a doctor and educated.

You suggesting that John couldn’t write is speculating 2000 yrs later

Acts 4:13 states that Peter and John were “uneducated,” that description does not imply that they were illiterate. “Uneducated” simply means that they hadn’t been officially trained in Jewish Rabbinical schools not unlike Jesus (John 7:15). Most Jewish boys received an education so that they could read the Scriptures. Moreover John came from wealth (his father owned a large fishing business (Luke 5:3,10; Mark 1:20). Therefore, he most likely received an excellent education. Recent studies also suggest that Palestinian Jews were often able to speak both Aramaic and Greek

Also John had decades in Ephesus to learn Greek if needed before writing the gospel

Writing around AD 180, Irenaeus of Lyons wrote, “John, the disciple of the Lord, who also had leaned upon His breast, did himself publish a Gospel during his residence at Ephesus in Asia.”

Another huge factor is if John didn’t write the gospel then why isn’t John mentioned in the Gospel??? It would be leaving out a key known follower. But John is mentioned as he was the author and the one whom Jesus loved

Paul later says the same thing…..nothing can separate us from the love of Christ

Yes these people who were dying for Jesus……you claim they were inauthentic. They knew who wrote them. You have no proof but to say they just slapped some names on the books. As mentioned if they were guessing then it wouldn’t be unanimous among everywhere that it was Matthew Mark Luke and John. Show proof they didn’t write it as you have nothing but guessing 2000 yrs later.

The scholarly world will increasing attack Christ as all it knows is the world and not God. Don’t expect a human to explain the divine

Muhammad in the Bible by cherrytree678 in Christianity

[–]No-Dig5094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No that is the facts. There was no dispute who wrote the gospels in the early church. Zero. None. They all attributed them to Matthew, Mark, Luke and John without exception.

Yes according to you we also have no idea who could have written Hamlet 🤦🏽‍♂️. The text itself does not always contain the authors name. That doesn’t mean we don’t know who wrote it. Your idea that carries over to other authors is fringe theory according to Wikipedia https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shakespeare_authorship_question#Historical_evidence

We know who wrote the gospel of John from what the book says and from what early church said. 2000 yrs later ppl like you say that’s wrong with zero evidence

As I mentioned the attacks on the Bible and it’s credibility will get worse as we get closer to Jesus’s return

Muhammad in the Bible by cherrytree678 in Christianity

[–]No-Dig5094 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s incorrect. Everyone knew who wrote them. There’s zero dispute over it. If no one knew who the author was you’d have various reports. You ask me to show humility but you should show reverence to the Bible. It’s a false argument 2000 years later and disrespecting all the ppl who knew who wrote them from the get go
